This is what Ive been telling my friend. Light/ Kira for example is too overly Expressed. Too dramatic and tensed. But Johan is just stroll in the park like nothing is happening, cant almost tell on his face he just killed someone. While Kira will always have that (inner) evil victorious smirk.

​@@LucyFerr000 To be fair, Johan and Light being different make sense - they have different philosophies and goals. Johan is a nihilist, for him life is without a purpose, so yes, for him nothing is actually happening. But Light started killing for justice and got more and more corrupted. It's not that life doesn't have any meaning to him, he just decides who should live. There's no way Light could be calm like Johan - his character *has to* be prideful, *has to* be expressive after all it shows a human challenging God, believing he can make a new world. Though Johan scared me way more than Light has, I think he is a very interesting character.

The moment that Johan quickly points the gun at Grossman is probably the fastest we ever see Johan move in the entire series. In almost every other scene he moves an a calm and slow (maybe even lethargic) fashion, always planning his next move to achieve his goals. Even when he killed Junkers, he slowly pulled out his gun, but in this scene, he quickly cuts off from his speech, quickly points the gun at Grossman and shoots him. And honestly it seems that Johan was actually talking to himself rather than Grossman as he seems not to acknowledge any of the words spoken by Grossman and the only time he seems to acknowledge that he’s even there is when he decides to shoot him after abruptly ending his speech and uncharacteristically, points the gun towards him quickly and shoots him. Almost as killing Grossman was a tedious chore that needed to be done so Johan can move on to more important plans. Just chilling.

Johan came to that place not caring about any outcome, death for example. It was another of his "let's gamble if fate is on my side yet", giving the weapon to Grossman and ask him to shoot his head. After he doesn't do it, he says "I've seen the end many times" and accepts it's not his time yet and that fate is on his side, after that he proceeds with his original plan in the case he was not shot by Grossman, which was repeating Kinderheim's massacre on a bigger scale creating pain on Bonaparta's surroundings, and killing him, as vengeance after realizing he wasn't Johan, he was another skin for the monster, the monster being Bonaparta.

@@lovemeteorite6690 Just like Junkers, he's a serial killer Johan contacted to kill 2 of his former foster parents. Grossman was also a skilled serial killer who conducted perfect crimes. On top of killing Johan's foster parents, he was also working with him by gathering money, killing people etc... The point of this scene is to show that Johan was starting to kill everyone who has ties to him, because the scenery of the end was approaching.

@@facusosa1664 Urasawa wrote a novel that continues and deepens the story of Monster called "Another Monster", the synopsis is that a journalist investigates Johan's case in depth under the suspicion that there may be another monster on the loose in Europe. In the novel, some heavy secrets are revealed about The Mansion of Red Roses, Franz Bonaparta's backstory, Johan's accomplices and even some clues about his current whereabouts after disappearing from the hospital in the final episode. In the novel it is explained who that character is and his role as a serial killer. I recommend you reading the novel, it's great!
