I wish i wouldn't feel so attracted to this idea. I am a 21 year old guy who since my first memories from childhood, all the way through adolescence up until now, can't recall one moment where i haven't felt complete internal void. For some reason (that i, alone, can't comprehend), i've never been able to understand how people can live automatically the way they do. I've been observing and questioning since my childhood how people are able to perform things like social interaction, to feel happy with themselves without a particular reason and be charismatic automatically, to take joy out of normal things like making friends and creating a bond with someone they've never met before, to have plans and ambitions and goals. To think like that as a child and not having anyone to make me talk about those questions i had, i have a feeling it took me right where i am right now. No friends, no feeling of love, the complete lack of happiness and boredom on a daily basis, not to mention the lack of capacity to express emotions in the most normal situations. I do try to do normal things that i imagine can put me in a position where i can provide for myself in the future, to pay rent and be able to survive. Like right now i'm in college studying Computer Science, but everyday i think about the meaning of all this, and i can't seem to find an answer that makes me comfortable. I am 100% rational about everything, every detail needs to be precise and have a meaning, if it's not then i can't be comfortable and deal with it, whatever it is. And for some reason i can't see how normal things that people do, that life tells you to do, makes sense. None of that makes sense to me. I've had responsability before, i've worked to help bringing food to the table at home, i've provided for my mother and sister when my father died, working at a company where i completely failed during 10 months (that experience was so traumatic to me) but even during that moment where i was providing for my family, when it should make sense because i had a reason to be doing what i was doing, even then i couldn't find a meaning to all of that. Just void. Complete void... This video was incredible, well written, directed and narrated. Whoever you are, my most sincere thank you.

Yeah man, sometimes it feels like existing is pointless. Like having desires sounds futile at some point for some people. What is the point of living if death awaits everyone? Life is indeed tough for most of us. Not everyone has the privilege to be truly free. Something could be holding you back. Hang in there. You are young, you still have that gift of time. Allow yourself to do more and to learn something new. Something you truly want and enjoy. If there's really nothing that you desire, just try and go do something. It doesn't have to be phenomenal and drastic. Eat good food, work on your health and fitness. I reckon you could be unsatisfied with your degree. Could it be you really want to switch careers? I agree with the other person in the comments -- usually, the answer you're looking for is *within you.* "Just keep on learning, little by little. If you're empty, then you can take in anything. If you want to be reborn, then it's in your best interest to become empty." -- quote from Makoto Yukimura's _Vinland Saga_ All the best.

I have a few small remarks: It’s unfair to say that Johan has never experienced love and care at all. When twins escaped from “Three Frogs” they met people who adopted them and treated them decently like parents. But Johan murdered them. Because even in that young age Johan’s mind had already bean set up to destroy everything and everybody around him (like in Bonaparta’s tale about nameless monster) It also should be taken into account that by the time Johan entered kinderheim 511, he had already been a hard-hearted cruel creature who eventually destroyed the whole kinderheim with almost all people there. He already had been kind of a result of an experiment that was carried out there. Kinderheim just completely messed up his memories with Anna’s ones and erased his personality and individuality, strengthening that nihilism in him.

@unorthodoxstrider3847 Жыл бұрын
@@izii2bizii I find the book to be in good intentions but it was simply ineffective in fact many people actually aimed to be like the nihilist character themselves (Arkády and Yevgény) which makes it seem like it all backfired which resulted in the nihilist movement growing. The nihilists would then Fulfill their final goal in March 1st 1881 when Four nihilists put themselves into position; two were able to launch their bombs, the second catching both the Tsar and Ignatei Grinevitski, who threw the bomb, both of whom died. After that the Russian Nihilist movement ended and grew influential to people across the globe. So overall I think it was a futile attempt at anti nihilism. I found it out about it while I was studying the history of the russian nihilists themselves, and curious of to why Nihilism has so many different forms and found out there is a movement dedicated to it that made the Philosophy more popular I then Read every book relating to the movement.

Something which eludes me about nihilism is the claim “everything is meaningless”; yet, in making this claim, nihilism itself creates meaning.
@weebgraphy Жыл бұрын
It's a paradox in itself. The core of the belief of 'not believing in anything' is paradoxically contradicting. If someone 'beliefs' in nothingness, they are definitely 'believing' in something.
@Ninja07Keaton Жыл бұрын
Not exactly. Nihilism is a process, not a belief. It is the cleaning of the slate so that new values can be born. Nihilism isn't meant to be permanent, it's meant to set the belief structures of old ablaze. Once this is done, the next step that many "so called" nihilists do not take, is to turn inward, and ask who they truly are at their core. This leads to one achieving what is known as a "state of nothingness" or munoken. Accepting reality in full, they have a true appreciation for everything in the universe. They appreciate it because they have no reason to the contrary. Their ultimate end is not to destroy, it is to awaken.

Life is meaningless. That is a fact you come to realize when you study the universe. There are several ways people have processed this news. Some people lose all hope and lose all value in life. Some decide to illogically celebrate and party at the end of meaning just to stubbornly refute the idea. Some shed their morals and use the liberty gained by a meaningless universe to justify any action they may commit. I do not do any of those things, because neither is truly logical. We are all born into this world with the ability to feel. To feel with our senses, and to feel with our emotions. If we were robots, then meaninglessness would mean that you're a waste of space. However, we are not robots. Due to having emotion, life becomes unpredictable. Some people hate this unpredictability, but in reality, this unpredictability is the thing that allows humans to live without meaning. It's like using a drug. You get to escape meaninglessness, but the cost is that you sometimes make irrational decisions. Oh well, if anything, the irrational decisions keep life entertaining. It will never be one-note. Every villain will have a deep, meaningful backstory. Every hero will be flawed. Every "normal person" will have quirks. This is what makes life worth living. Chase your emotions. Without your emotions, you are nothing but an automaton lost on the Earth with nothing meaningful to do. Emotions make life worth living, because it allows you to bear the thought of meaninglessness, even if for only a second. Pain makes you live in the moment. Anger makes you live in the moment. Sadness makes you live in the moment. Happiness makes you live in the moment. Fear makes you live in the moment. Without those, there's no way to live in the moment. So, live for your emotions. They allow you to bear meaninglessness. They allow you to accept it. After all, irrationality makes a meaningless life worth living. Only a truly dull, apathetic person can truly commit themselves to Nihilism. Only a truly ignorant, rebellious individual can party on the end of all meaning, accepting Absurdism. Only a mad, dangerous man accepts his liberty in a meaningless world, as while they may not use their liberty for evil, they are still more likely to do so. This is my belief in how humanity should ideally view meaninglessness. This is the truth about how truly blessed we are to have the capacity for emotion. This is living for your emotions.

While it doesn't perfectly allign with Johan's philosophy, it raises compelling questions about life's meaning, morality, and individual existence, sparking deeper contemplation. The narrative also weaves elements of Johan's past and the larger narrative of "Monster" with allegorical storytelling. The blending of philosophical introspection with psychological analysis shows ambition in crafting a thought-provoking piece. As well as shedding light on the trauma of Kinderheim 511 and the emotional scars it inflicted. This focus demonstrates an understanding of how early experiences shape individuals and the complexities of coping with such burdens. And while some interpratations miss critical nuances, the video ultimately succeeds in sparking curiosity and discussion about existentialism, identity, and morality. It's creative blend of analysis and narrative is commendable. And with the inconsistencies and flawed interpretations there are however several. "Johan Never Received Love or Care" This claim is reductive. While Johan's experiences in Kinderheim 511 and beyond were marked by detachment and cruelty, there were moments of care-albeit rare and fleeting. The family after the escape from the Three Frogs did offer Johan and Anna something resembling of love. However, Johan is someone who chooses not to tether his identity to such sentiments. The absence of lasting love may have influenced his worldview, but it was never the sole defining factor. "Johan Embraced Anna's Memories as His Own" Though he absorbed certain elements of Anna's trauma, it is overly simplistic to claim he "became" her. Johan's identity was never fully eclipsed by hers. Instead, he wielded both her memories and his as tools to craft a narrative where he remained in control, shaping reality to his purpose rather than succumbing to it. "Johan Became a Nihilist Who Cared About Nothing": This interpretation misunderstands Johan's meticulous planning and strategic choices. Nihilism suggests a complete rejection of meaning, yet he operated with a calculated purpose: to explore the fragility of human constructs and reveal the void beneath societal façades. He did not simply “care about nothing”-he cared about exposing the emptiness behind false human ideals. "Johan Was Completely Broken by Anna's Rejection": The idea that being shot by Anna shattered him emotionally is an overstatement. That moment was more about testing the limits of love, forgiveness, and identity, rather than an emotional collapse. If anything, it reaffirmed his detachment from sentimental constraints rather than marking a defeat. "Johan as Pure Antichrist Opposite to Tenma": The portrayal of Tenma as purely Christ-like and Johan as entirely anti-Christ disregards the shades of complexity within both characters. Tenma himself struggles with moral ambiguity, and Johan, despite his manipulations, is not entirely devoid of humanity. Their duality is not as stark as good versus evil; it’s a nuanced reflection of human choice and consequence. In conclusion: The video attempts to distill a complex existence into a series of digestible narratives, but life-and the monsters it spawns-is never so simple. The truth of Johan's journey lies not in simplistic labels or moral judgments, but in the intricate dance between chaos, identity, and purpose.

I guess in my opinion Johan loved anna like hear me out first when he said in kinderheim"I don't want to forget anna she is the only one i have" and then the scene where he was playing with her as a kid and asked her which hand has chestnut and told her she will always be right no matter what also when he told anna to shoot him as a kid at that time he thought that he was at red mansion so bonaparte is after him so if he died anna will live free from the monster(bonaparte)also when he killed baby's people who captured Anna, as baby said they were going to do something bad to her if Johan didn't showed up so he killed them and Anna escaped also the last part when he destroyed red mansion and people related to it was obvious why he did that if he was selfish he would not have cared whether Anna went to red mansion or not, also Anna said" when i told him my red mansion event he was crying bitterly like it was his fault"and she also recalled"when Johan told me to shoot him his shoulders was sunk and he looked in pain".So in my opinion he was capable of love as one of his dreams was to see end of the world with Anna his way of showing love was twisted cause he was not normal but he did loved her and i believe he had some affection for Tenma too as he killed those doctors just cause tenma said they deserve to die.

Yes indeed, the only person Johan truly loved and Cared for was his 'other part' which was his sister. I totally agreed with your point too Ayesha. He indeed has a bit complicated relationship with Tenma too but he rather wanted Tenma to feel mostly miserable because another part of his goal was to make sure every people that Tenma knew or had known before were gradually being targeted as well. I think in one of the instances he had even mentioned that Johan would like to wipe out every one Tenma knows of until no one remembers or calls his name to make him suffer the same fate that Johan does. Part of the reason could be because Johan really wanted to die at the time he was shot by Anna (The sister who he holds dare the most) and that Johan was not really too happy about the decision that Tenma has made. Indeed it's my speculation and analysis based upon what I've understood from the narrative or to what I can remember. Anyways, Thank you for your time and comment :D Really appreciated it!

I think there is a difference between having a meaning, a purpose and demanding from the universe to see you as important and make you it's own purpose. Making peace with the FACT that we are so small and unimportant compared to huge universe - it's not nihilism, it's simply not being arrogant and not being utterly egoistic. You are the one who should create your own meaning in life by your own taste. And that's what it means to have a meaning and reason to live, instead of expecting from neutral universe to treat you like princess. Just stop being arrogant and selfish, that doesn't mean nihilism, it means maturing. Nihilism would be as if you're so depressed that you don't like anything, have no wishes, no preferences at all. But you really don't need to be respected by neutral nature to not get angry and give up cause you're so offended. Stop demanding to be cosmically important in order to live and do things.

Question about the existential value and constant duty of love and morality...? Superheroe's protect,spare to show mercy and do kind thing's for other's to make the world a "better" place but sense as long as humanity exist's so doe's pain and evil,each time you try to change the cruel indifference of the world it'll rot just like any plant morality and love will be thrown away and people will convert back to their old primal cruel way's,what is the inner solution to keep going on being a decently good person,being kind,being forgiven,being merciful,what doe's such a saint duty of life even benefit's for anyone in the end,is there really an atleast peaceful ending...?
