Very cool! I used to race a 250cc shifter kart and that was fast enough! I have an R1 now and to think about putting the engine from that into a kart is insane!!!! It must be absolute handfull at full throttle! Good stuff :)

@Elmo187 an automatic is when u don't prees any clutch or paddle. this is a flappy paddle gearbox. An automatic uses a completely different system.

I drove one like it with a 250 dirt bike motor. Most of them have the clutch and shifter mounted right behind the steering wheel and they are hard to get use to at first.

@240SSONLY Why are you getting so angry? Seriously, it's an automatic. Like I said, no matter how you put it, it's an automatic. Automatic DOES NOT refer to what is inside the transmission. Automatic: operating with minimal human intervention; independent of external control The transmission chooses another gear for you while depressing 1 clutch AND then it depresses another clutch when you hit the paddle or stick. Therefore, it automatically shifts with MINIMAL human intervention.

Looks very professionally made, are you all specialists at making things like this then? And i see the rear wheels look like there 5" wide ones, superkarts use 6" wide tyres. 2" is not a lot of rubber but it would improve the grip! lol Great Kart! Keep the vids coming

no. but we still have the data for the bending machine on disk. it is theoretical possible to produce this frame again. the question about the frame comes very often. so maybe it could be lucrative :-D we will see...

@240SSONLY technically you're both right. After reading over the few pages of bitching btw you both: Elmo is not using the term "Automatic" in the same manner that you are thinking. Hes referring to F1 clutch pedals being electro-hydraulically actuated, and electronics control the actual shifting of gears when the driver shifts. So in a sense it is "automatic" but manually controlled. And you are also right that Auto is generally referring to auto torque converter which those cars are not

klar ich kann deine sicht schon auch verstehn. gerade in deutschland ist es für leute mit solchen hobbys schon schwer genug. da machen es solche videos sicher nicht leichter. aber ab und zu macht es halt auch spaß die kupplung schnalzen zu lassen :-)

After further inspection, top speed seems to be quite a bit higher, maybe 125mph top speed. The handling is pretty much a "hang on and don't get hurt".

stock gearing is for 186mph, why not cut that in half? still 93mph and it would be more drivable? just a thought. I've built carts that were waaay to fast and they were all under 600cc.......................

+B Curtis First, nothing is too fast ;) second, lowering the top speed makes the ratio quicker and the cart more prone to wheelspin and actually harder to drive....haha

I dont think you got it right buddy... if by automatic you mean a sequential manual gearbox with a clutch computer activated... or a hydraulic pump "automatically" pumpin the gears in... then yes its auto, but what the REST of the 99.99% of transmissions that are referred to as automatic... have a torque converter... do i make my point? and you commented to some thing i wasn't answering to...

Not this project but from the looks of it, there isn't much handling and I'd have to estimate somewhere around 80-100mph. I have some karts and different racecar projects. If you can get an airstrip to allow you to make test runs, it's a gold mine! Too much red-tape in track tuning.
