MONSTER Kingfish Frenzy at Bob Hall Pier

We had a good day catching Kingfish on Bob Hall Pier. After my dad caught his Kingfish I went to wash my hands as soon as I got to the hose the other reel started screaming. I ran to the rod, picked it up and I could see the line underneath the pier. I locked the drag down and slapped the Kingfish around.

When is the best time to catch king fish at bob hall pier can you catch them is February ?

raleigh middleton I would say the best time would be May, June, July and August. The water is still going to be cold come February.

What rig was used and set up

The rods are custom Ugly Stik Gutts Butt w/ Fuji SiC guides. The reels are Shimano TLD 30s (they come in handy when you hook up to a Big Tarpon you can check out my other videos to see what I mean) a short topshot of 80lb Sufix Superior Hi-Vis Yellow and the rest 40lb Sufix Superior Hi-Vis Yellow. A TLD 30 can be a little overkill for Kings but you can put the breaks on the Kings if they try and go under the pier and cut you off. We rather catch a King or a Jack on the TLD 30 than hook up to a Tarpon on a Penn 209 and wish we had the 30 lol.

It's made so that when you catch a Tarpon instead of bringing it up to the pier and potentially killing it you rope the float and break the hook. That day we caught all the Kings on Pinfish.

A slide line is when you use 2 rods to suspend a bait right below the water surface. 1 rod (anchor rod) you cast out w/ a heavy surf weight so it sticks in the sand. Then you get another rod (main rod) and attach a slide clip to the leader of it and then attach it to the anchor rod and then you let it out until it hits the water. Once you get a hit the slide clip pops off from the leader on the main line and slides down the anchor line to the surf weight.

How far you cast?

The 1st King was on a slide line about 40-50 yards out. The 2nd and 3rd Kings were caught on floats about 15-20 yards out.

Can you catch king fish at port anransas jetties in the summer ?

Yes they catch them at Port A Jetties and Packery Jetties. That would be a long walk down the Port A Jetties hauling all the gear though lol

Will it be better at bob hall peir or jetties?

In my opinion Bob Hall Pier would be better out of the 3, the end will be packed with rods and people though.
