So to explain Waylen company's scheme. They wanted the Nostromo crew to pick up the alien, have the alien kill everybody so that the ship could go derelict in space and then waylene company would send a "rescue" team to declare it abandoned by the crew, then they could tow the ship as salvage and basically smuggle the alien into one of their faculties without the knowledge of any government authority and study it off the books for weapons and medical research and development. When Ripley blew up the ship, it threw a wrench in their plans and they assumed everyone was dead which is why they didn't go looking for the "lifeboat" Ripley was in and she was left to float in space for 60 years...I think it was 60 years.

I think in Aliens the company has been trying to find the crashed ship since the colony started but were for some reason unable till Ripley is recovered its not to unreasonable to think there might have been a back up of Nostromo's blackbox on the escape pod - I think there is a scene in the special edition that shows Berk making a phone call after her expended debriefing scene which might tie into that version's new starting scenes, we see one of the higher ups of the colony telling Newt's father that they just got a request to check out some map coordinates and they have an quick exchange to the effect of Boss "hey I need to you go check this area out" Father "why we surveyed that area before" Boss "Hell if I know but those are the orders the company sent" then they both repeat a kind of "dont ask dont tell" slogan that shows they have been dealing with corporational BS for years.

Sorry, James, but Godzilla and Gamera will NEVER fight each other in a movie. Both Toho and Daiei have stated that they won't allow it. But y'know what would be even better? Having the two monsters meet and join forces to take down a bigger threat. I mean, Godzilla teamed up with monsters like Anguirus, Mothra, Rodan, and even Jet Jaguar way back in the classic era, and he teamed up with Moguera in Godzilla VS SpaceGodzilla, so why not team up with Gamera?

It's been quite a while since you posted this, but I'd offer an alternative view of Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell's ending. Note how utterly unaffected Frankenstein is by the monster's death, simply saying "probably the best thing for him" and laying plans for the next one. It's the capstone of his decline over the whole series -- from a driven man with something to prove to a madman trapped by his own habits. He makes monsters because ... that's what he does, there's no point to it anymore and yet he can't see anything else to do. He's like someone who started a marriage passionately in love, now can't stand his spouse, but thinks getting a divorce is too much hassle. Or a sculptor who dreamed of creating brilliant art but now designs toys for cereal boxes because she has a mortgage. From that perspective it's a tragic end IMO.

It sounds like he didn't actually watch Alien 3 the Assembly Cut, and just read about it, because it's significantly better than the theatrical version and he never mentioned any of the changes beside the alien. And the main reason Alien 3 'failed' was because the studio stepped in and ruined it. Again, the Assembly Cut is the actual movie it was meant to be.
@jekw238 ай бұрын
Agree it’s much better but it’s not a directors cut. Fincher never got to shoot the movie the way he wanted so regardless of how he cut it he’d never get it how he liked. What we have is probably the best that could be salvaged. Personally I really like it despite all its flaws.
