People in the anime tease Maple but imo she really IS playing the game as intended. Episode 1 alone shows she's observant any GOOD player should be. She realized when she took poison damage and gained resistance what that could mean for her, and since her aim was to "not get hurt" or as a common player would call it "damage reduction" she knew LETTING HERSELF GET HIT by that forest queen bee would help her in the long run. The Hydra boss... she's lucky she got potions from someone (though maybe she could've bought them herself idk how much they cost in game and she only had 3k) so she could attempt to further her resistance. She played smart against the hydra, and the eating the boss.... that's likely an AI thing that came from Maple unexpectedly putting everything into one stat. She has at least 2 skills that state clearly she'll use MORE points to raise other stats, so by that point she kinda HAS to stick with that or reroll a new character. IMO she's playing the game as any player should.

Except she got lucky. Without her Soloing the Hydra successfully on her 1st try she wouldnt be that OP. To say nothing of how terrible it is normally to NOT have any Agility. Later they Nerf this ability, but then she has her friend Sally to help. The best thing about Maple is that on 1v1 she's invicible, but in terms of Quests & Team Battles, she can't do everything on her own. Contrary to most protags where it's like "Look how awesome I am", with Maple it's "Look how great WE are!" a lot.

Quite literally it was stated in the novel version that her getting stuck in the Poison Dragon boss room with no way of dying was basically an oversight by the devs. And the only reason she managed to not only get out of the boss room but also get her entire skill set is because for some inane reason, the devs decided to program in the mechanic that _physically eating your enemies alive_ counted as an HP drain attack that would deal chip damage regardless of how low your attack stat was. And you did quite literally have to _eat._ Tearing off and spitting out flesh would just cause it to regrow with a result of zero damage. Not to mention the only other reason why the result came out in the first place was because instead of looking at the game menu for a help interface or forcefully logging out after getting stuck, Maple took one look at the now harmless poison dragon’s body and basically went “hmm, that looks like it could be tasty”, proceeded to totter up to the hulking beast, firmly grasp it, and _chomp the fuck down._ Not to mention, she proceeded to make note of how _unpleasantly bitter_ it tasted before she swallowed and learned that she could deal chip damage through this method, only becoming more bearable to consume when the poison dragon let out its poison breath to nullify the taste. From beginning to end, Maple wasn’t someone who acted strategically, but rather someone who moved completely at her own pace and just so happened to take actions that would have made her a perfect member of a beta testing team. A later event boss specifically had its stomach removed because the devs saw how she won against the demon by devouring it from the inside. Not that it changed much, since she basically made use of the aggro the boss had to constantly steer the thing while stuck in its mouth to make use of its speed and mobility for herself.

Remember the very first skill of eating ppl with her shield that in itself was op as hell... They nerfed it to 10/20 uses per day.. Then this atrocity she can use it only once per day... It's even better how in the novel it explains the devs started building or adding mechanics around maple, DoTs, bosses with nos stomach or that were more tanker and staller than full on aggro, adding a lot of new variants to which maple couldn't just walk alone and solo, for example an area boss were a set of golems and their gimmick was being inmune to status effects and having high def/vit, so it made better for players with piercing damage or that did fixed damage based on HP% while others would support them

I actually found a guy talking about on the devs’ side, the reason you can eat sandwiches is cause your character can deal dmg by biting something For all intents and purposes, you eat food by “damaging” it with your teeth, however Maple has found a way to exploit this, and so she does what she does and has what she has cause of it 😅

the fun thing is that all her transformations and skills are just rewards from the game. she didn't use any bugs or exploits or anything. she just found, by pure chance, a few side quests that gave the rewards she needed. the only "special" thing she has ever done, beyond maxing defense, is eating the monsters. but that, on itself, isn't an exploit. just another game mechanic that anybody could use but nobody tried.

Boss 2: I know what you mean, tine was I could walk Around for days or weeks in a zone and anyone who got close would be vaporised. Now I’m lucky to get any tone outside before the 5-6 guilds waiting for me to arrive start fighting over who gets to kill me. Boss 3: screw you guys, I was stuck in some randoms broken room and the first time some shrimp turned up they were impervious to damage, summoned a freaking plush turtle to fight for them then had it tie me up in vines before taking me out with a freaking energy blast, a god damned plush turtle took out my first phase with a powered up burp. This is what you call a Final Boss. Did the devs do any amount of beta testing? Because Maple has found just about every possible exploit in this game. Even when they try to nerf her, it's like closing the barn door after the cows are all gone.

The devs are dumb af. Add something to game (gain skills and stuff by eating the monster) and expect no-one to do it? There's usually enough people who do go "oh, what does this button do?" and go ham with it

@@shaderunner7.0 I think the idea was that the consumption effect was there, but they expected people to do that with weaker monsters, not try to kill a boss one bite at a time. We do see time lapses with Maple where she is eating the monsters, but really that had to take like hours for the Poison Dragon and tens of minutes for the boss in the clip. No one could expect a player to sit there and deal chip damage for that long. Most would either try something else and most likely die, or log out. Maple was locked in the poison dragon boss room with now immunity to poison but no weapons. Most any other player would have seen this as a soft-lock and used the Stuck Feature or logged out. Maple kept pestering the dragon and so it grabbed her, she just bit it because she had no other way to defend herself. Realizing that her bite actually dealt damage (in the book its bite and consumption, if you just bite and spit out the health regens) and so kept doing it. The Dragon couldn't really hurt her, her Vit was too high for its physical attacks to do much of any damage and she had a slow health regen ring on at the time. So the Poison Dragon and Maple were in a stalemate with Maple finding the only way to deal damage being to bite and consume the dragon. The dragon likely didn't have a stomach to swallow anyone into, so it didn't have that option.

I guess the game is in beta and the shitty devs just launched the game to public without realizing all the possible combination of skills. That's why at the beginning, after the first tournament they implement the defence penetration mechanics and skills and limited the skill in armor and weapons to some uses a day. Even with that Maple is still discovering many op abilities

Maple isn't a gamer, so she uses non-linear thinking. If you were locked in a boss room, where the boss couldn't deal damage to you, and you didn't have a way to damage it what would you do? 99.9999% of people are gonna log out, use the stuck option, escape rope, etc. Maple didn't. She treated it like she was really there and when the dragon grabbed her all she could do was bite it, its all she had left. Discovering that her bite and swallowing its flesh actually dealt damage. (Remember she has on a slow health regen ring at this point so the dragon couldn't chip damage her back) and so she chip damaged it down 1-5hp at a time. In the books she has to swallow the bites of meat, if she spits it out it regens that health. And it tastes really bad. No dev would assume a player would KEEP biting and eating at something that tastes foul.

I mean otherwise she would've been stuck in the monster with her armor getting stronger each time it broken only to rejuvenate. She wasn't taking damage being in the demon's belly and frankly the GMs should've added a "don't eat players" protocol after they realized Maple had no qualms about eating bosses. She'd eat the guardian between level 1 and 2 if she thought she could get close enough.
