The Gibbering sound effects are by far the best and most haunting I have heard. Will definitely play them for my party when they meet the Gibbering Mouther encounter I have planned for them!

As for backstory, a gibbering mouther could totally be a side-affect of sacrificing a lot of lives in one go. Definitely using that.

Wow! that was awesome, I didn't even know this monsters even existed! Definitely don't want to come across one of these in a campaign haha. Got a suggestion for you Josh, my group came up against a Hag a couple of sessions ago and she was turning children into Ghasts, love to see how you'd draw a Ghast. Cheers, Dan.

DinoWookie Turning children i to ghasts... That's awesome! Hags are great villians. 😁 Did you guys slaughter the ghasts/children or try to cure them?
@dinowookie36596 жыл бұрын
the DM Lair we saved one named Jeffrey who was half turned so he had the hands of a ghast but the rest of him was a small noble boy, the rest we had to kill or they would of killed us 😂😂

Nice tale, Lovecraft himself would have enjoyed it. Truly unsettling, and your usual personalization of the creature's appearance is so gross and awesome here. Man I share your horrified awe of this thing (no pun intended?) It was an Ecology Of... article in Dragon that got me,. There's also a wraith-gibbering mouther mashup in that Geoffrey Rush remake of House on Haunted Hill that illustrates the awfulness.
@ninjawiz79326 жыл бұрын
The audio for the "Gibbering" ability was truly chilling, I need to make custom audio files for use in my adventures. Honestly though, I find that the Gibbering Mouther is kind of underscored because of its incredibly crappy attack bonus (only a +2 to hit), but that damage is truly something to watch out for.

holy crap-a-moly never in a million years did i expect an actually suspensefull and horrifying horror story on monster mondays, i friggin loved it :D telling a story that both keeps the viewer on the edge of their seat and is still informative about the monster we are shown is no small feat, seriously, well done!
@SynsideAndOutside6 жыл бұрын
This is a dope channel, super happy someone showed me. Whenever i had trouble imagining a monster's description from the MM, I wished for something just like this. All the better that you also cover some historical context. For me, it fits the tone of your videos, and also inspires a little bit more thought in how to use the monsters in game. It's everything I never knew I always wanted.

I never knew how to play the mouther except as bites and psudopods. But "the thing" reference makes perfect sense! Awesome!

Man this one was terrifically disgusting and amazingly horrifying! Please do more of this scene-type narration!
@volendemere60886 жыл бұрын
Absolutely phenomenal man, narrations like that are what I try and capture in my games that I run for the guys. A little nugget for thought though, a mimic can be aaaaany object within a dungeon, a cold brazer, a metallic crate, even a bed in a barracks, but we've only seen drawn depictions of a mimic as a chest. Could that be changed?

Found this while researching for the Gibbering Mouther. I run a AD&D 2e game with OSR rules mods (Homebrew) for my daughter and her friends. We will be running her group of level 2 characters in a special 8hour Horror game. I plan on using the Gibbering Mouther as the main creature. This really helps get me in the mind space.

Top tier narration dude! My friend DM'd for the first time yesterday and he based his campaign off of The Thing. He didn't know about this monster so he made his own much more powerful version. Long story short, it was a TPK. But it was still fun! I would love to see a Death Knight video.
