@petrescuework-difficultcas65815 жыл бұрын
@@lenitaa7938 As you say "the dog is rewarded for it". So it's the owner's fault of not being able to handle the personality of their dog. In other people's hands, this dog would never have been an issue in the first place. Of course dogs have different personalities. I actively work with shelter dogs for over a decade now. And sure there are owners that can't handle certain dogs' personalities. But this is never the dog's fault. If the owners would invest time and learning to understand their dogs, 95% of dog-owner-issues could be solved in time. Sure there are also people that are for example mentally disabled or have psychiatric illnesses and aren't able to act in certain ways around a dog. These people might not be able to withstand an always questioning, own-minded, independent dog, as it might be too high of a frustration for them to handle. But this is an exception. The vast majority of people simply never learned (and I literally mean learning, like reading books, visiting classes, etc.) how to properly act with their dog, which causes the problems. That's why the dogs suddenly become "angels" when a trainer is around.

Yes, I'm absolutely sure that Mandy is the emotionally abused one in this household. Not the gaunt-eyed children listening to their biological mother fawn concern over a dog more than they, nor the firefighter whom can't get into his marital bed without being attacked whilst his wife just smiles on in smug arrogance; to a degree that she believes the dog losing bed privileges is a victory for her husband, a victory which she shamelessly spites. I think that line is important not because it suggests that the family doesn't love the mother, but that the mother takes their love for granted.

She snapped at her husband for making a suggestion, and she's the only one in the family swearing at others in defense. She sees no issue with her "precious baby" literally snarling and biting at her _husband_ for trying to get into his own bed. Then, she questions whether or not this behavioral intervention will mean that the dog is not her baby anymore... _in front of her biological children._ I've not heard something so alienating since I heard my own father say, "I'm tired of being a husband! I'm tired of being a father!" to our mother.
@caitlincoy4484 жыл бұрын
I’m so sorry you had to heard that, realize that it’s not you it’s just him! If a father chooses to give up on his own child and say horrible things about his child Then it’s his loss. If you were really a misbehaving kid then they should simply Just give boundaries and tell you as it is, without the heartbreaking threats. It’s sad that most parents choose to put themselves first and don’t hold back on Saying things to their kid in hope that their child would cry and they would feel good. I may not know you or your personal life or family but like I said it’s not you it’s him, and do not ever let the negativity from your past interfere with your life/job/connection with people and especially your self esteem

Thanks to Victoria, I learnt that if we love our dogs, we NEED to be strict with them. Strict and loving
@Libellulaire5 жыл бұрын
Exactly. I grew up with dogs, my mother was always soft with them... they didn't misbehave like the dogs in that show, but they never listened to her. But my dad or me ? They listened to us right away (even when I was a child), and they still loved us. They always came to us. To be honest, it's actually the same with children. People think they need to be pretty lax or the kids might dislike them but you just need to find a correct balance between being strict, fair, and loving. For example, my nephew of 5 has several times expressed he doesn't like his dad. Because his dad is very strict and likes to give orders, loudly - and that's almost all he does. In comparison, he loves his mother because she spends time explaining things to him, discussing, and she still sets the boundaries firmly. The kid doesn't have any control over her, yet she still doesn't consider him like a puppet who needs to follow her every whim or order. That's why he can love and respect her. You also have parents who let their kids do anything since the very moment they're born... and then wonder why they turn so bad, selfish and even mean sometimes. Kids come into the world not knowing anything about life, society or human relationships... it's the parents' job to teach them about everything. I feel sad for the kids when the parents fail to do it...

I love dogs but if I were the Hisham I'd be scruffy Teddy and putting him out of the bedroom instead of trying to get on with him or Of be making my partner go sleep on the couch with the dog. I used to have a pomeranian he was a truly perfect sweet boy no agressive barking no biting. He would happily lick and greet anyone he met. It not about dogs being treated as dogs. If you have a human baby you don't let them have everything they want, and you teach them boundaries. Luke was my baby but he knew his boundaries and he would sit and wait on command. Treating an animal like a baby is only a problem when you don't take the appropriate parent role and let them run things. I love how at the end Teddu goes up to the baby very gently and polite. I also love how sweet the baby was to share a bit and how teddy was so gentle in taking it. I always train my dogs not to be food aggressive with humans. I don't mind risking myself sitting the training and I'm good at read dog body language. But I don't know how to safely teach them not to be food aggressive towards other animals without rising the other animal. Hasn't been a problem until now I have a 1 1/2 year old pit mix Dixie I feed separate from our 19 year old chihuahua Mitzy because it's safer plus Mitzy has occasional sezures we need to minimize stress. Dixie is usually a super friendly dog to people and dogs but while she doesn't mind humans handling her food she gets growly snippy if another dog comes near her food. She's so eager to meet people and dogs she'll try and run over to anyone she sees on leash. I don't encourage it and stand still waiting for her to calm. And sometimes when she's really excited she'll forget herself and jump up on purple in greeting. She's getting better at greeting but she still strains on the leash to greet people she sees. I keep telling people to not pet or acknowledge her when she jumps up on the but so many people are all 'it's fine, I love dogs' or 'I don't mind as her mom I do mind when she jumps up on people much like if you kid runs up and pokes a stranger it's bad manners

I hate how little dogs are always able to get away with stuff like this, whereas, like Victoria said, if Teddy was something like a Rottweiler or a German shepherd, he would’ve been put down long ago.
@drsylvietourigny54283 жыл бұрын
Hopefully if he was a big dog he would have been brought under control when the first signs of the bad behaviour manifested themselves. Those of us with larger dogs have to be conscious that they are at risk if we don't assert ourselves and teach them both manners and boundaries.

True, although if I was given the choice to run through a corridor of 10 of these snapping land Piranas or a corridor with a raging Alsatian or Doberman, I know which one I’m going down
@atabayilker2 жыл бұрын
Bigger the dog is, bigger the threat it would be. These little dogs are surely problematic but the most they can do is to disturb people around them whereas the bigger dogs can end up fatally or non-fatally injuring someone. BIG difference.

Exactly. I recently got bit by an adolescent rottweiler. Poor little guy wanted me to keep petting him when I got distracted by talking to his owner so he nipped at my hand. What was a little nip to him was 12 stitches to the side of my hand. I felt so bad for the dog cause he let go immediately and you could tell he was upset cause he hurt me.
@Angel-vb7bb2 жыл бұрын
I mean a chihuahua or Pomeranian won’t seriously harm u & possibly k/ll u. I think they get away cuz they aren’t actually a threat & nobody takes them seriously. Small dogs are just seen as annoying. Tbh I would rather get attacked by a small dog & not a Doberman! Plz☠️

Victoria previously: "an aggressive dog will always be aggressive when stressed, you can never let him around kids." Victoria this time: "as a final test of the training, put a baby right by the dog that used to bite at everyone."
