And everything you said is so accurate!The feeling you get from a s2000 when you push it to the limit harder and harder is really difficult to describe! And a healthy F20 is the king of all i4 n/a motors hands down.And not only.....The way that thing revs to 9000++ rpm,so easy,so fast,so instant reminds of a racing engine made for hill climbing or track days.In co-work with that wonderful 2seater opentop chassis is just an affordable dream to drive and making expensive new era sport cars looking like "safe toys".

I've said it to nearly everyone I've met. The S2000 is one of the best sports cars money can buy at any price point. I had a fully modded AP1 quite a few years ago, full ASM kit all the ballade BS and then some. I made 242 WHP and that was more than enough for that car. I now own a NA miata built for track/street and all the miata community wants to think it's gods gift to man kind. But really they are pieces of shit through and through. You can see where all the corners were cut in development. After I owned the S2000 every car I get in is a disappointment on track comparably. I've owned nearly every JDM car under the sun and a bunch of euros, and the S2K hands down will always be my #1 memory. The on track experience is just incredible. It just communicates so well! If I wasn't a single mid 30's home owner in expensive California I'd still have that S2K. Sadly... 3 months after I sold it with the intent to buy it back "sold to a personal friend" they parted it out and blew 2nd gear.... I can never retrace those steps. If I ever got another it would be like chasing an old dream that doesn't exist anymore. RIP S2K will always remember you being the champion that you were!

@rgled10260 Жыл бұрын
I’ve always wondered which route to go down, because the cost of getting this extra power from an NA build isn’t actually far off just going supercharger and having like 400+ bhp which sounds really tempting. But is a properly setup NA just as fun as a higher hp boosted to one
@RolanTHUNDER Жыл бұрын
@@rgled10260 Have you enjoyed your S2K Na for at least a few years? If so, then I'd say boost it. Centrifugal superchargers are the way to go if you want to keep the character of the car intact. That's why I prefer supercharging over turbocharging on this platform. That being said, if I had another S2K i just might turbo it. Then again I'd probably keep it NA :)
@rgled10260 Жыл бұрын
@@RolanTHUNDER so I owned one years ago for 3 years but sold it due to a job change. Which was worst decision I ever made, now I’ve finally got another one 7 years later. I’ve always had Honda’s and spent a lot of money rebuilding a Del Sol with a fully forged B18c4 turbo. But it wasn’t the most reliable and I loved how the S2000 drove even though it was done 90bhp from the Sol. But yeah I’d love to go down the rotrex route as I’d love to keep it NA feeling. But then you watch videos like this and think so I just do all this for slightly cheaper. I also was a lot of lht performance videos and they always say not to bother with trying to get a few more hp from NA and just go with boosted all the time. But this car here looks sick
@RolanTHUNDER Жыл бұрын
@@rgled10260 Yes that's it. Staying NA is awesome, no doubt. The S2K is an absolutely amazing NA car, no doubt. When you start building it NA then you will easily spend a lot of money for decent gains but not close to the gains you'll get supercharging it. SC is like the best of both worlds. Before supercharging I tuned my NA S2k with bolt ons (stock header and airbox though) and she made 200 wheel at altitude. Would have been around 225 to 230 wheel at sea level. That was fun and she was great but I always knew I'd be supercharging it. Now she makes 375 wheel still at altitude off of 9 to 10 pounds boost, stock engine :) I'm still fine tuning here and there so my goal is and always was 400 wheel. If I were at the coast then she'd make 4 to 5 pounds more boost as is!! That would put me well over 400 wheel on pump gas ;)

Looks like the headers gave you a decent bump in the lower RPMs (or should I just supercharge this thing and call it a day)
@TheSlipAngle Жыл бұрын
Power is not really gaining much on a small track like this. Corner speed and braking are the two biggest factors for fast lap times. If it were a bigger track with straightaways, then yes the power would get you something. Think of it like how often can you really go full throttle and utilize big acceleration here. Most of the time you are just trying to get the car through a corner and more power will just make it more of a handful. You can help your low end with gearing. While yes, my 235/40-17 AD08Rs are certainly giving up some all out grip vs say a 255, the benefit I gain is having a lighter setup as well as a bump in gearing, in which combined with the all motor mods helps my low end pull out of the diggy corners.
