This is probably the best Honda S2000 driving video ever filmed. I compared this to other decent drivers... so at the uphill corner at 4:30 he somehow keeps all the momentum going 108 kph and he can further accelerate really well. I've seen some S2000 drivers lose all the momentum in corners and the engine couldn't accelerate on the uphill. So in my opinion for an average driver like me this car would be slow, but in the right hands it's a true sports car.

The current Type R is cool. But this car was something truly _special._ Honda doesn't have to make anything that's actually fast. They only need to make something that feels good to drive. I used to own a 5th gen Prelude, and I loved the way it felt to drive it. The car just felt so confident and tossable, even if Preludes are known to be heavy as small cars go. S2K is my dream car at this point. Values on these things are through the roof.

Honestly the modern CTR is numb and boring compared to an AP1 S2K, new Miata ND2 with tuning feels similar to an AP1 S2K, but it lacks rigidity and the stock spring rate is criminally soft. 3,000 in mods and all is fixed though.

@nikb65287 жыл бұрын
He could but it wouldn't be as cool.
@identiticrisis6 жыл бұрын
Double clutching does the same thing in a gearbox with synchros as it does in one without. It means you don't have to rely on the synchros as heavily, either because you need a swift engagement or to reduce wear. In Gan San's case, it might just be muscle memory...
@final09154 жыл бұрын
I think he was going from 3rd to 2nd, so like @identiticrisis said, muscle memory. If he was skipping a gear, it would make sense in both non-synchro and synchronised gearboxs.
@denniswhite1474 жыл бұрын
His method is very precise, watch, he felt the slow car messed with his driving line. he is driving by feel alone, notice he never looks at the tach, and every shift is flawless, up and down...2 things, he clearly sees how good the abs was, he slams the brake pedal and doesnt get any weird feedback or unwanted dynamics, it gives him confidence to hard brake without fear of under or oversteer. if you watch just prior to him double clutching; he brakes but doesnt downshift. It lowered his speed so he hits the throttle to get his rpm but felt the car still had usable power in 2nd gear on that slight corner, so he double clutches to not lose traction and unstable the rear tires. He knows a straight downshift would be too much. So he Blips the throttle in between, so yes he wants the gears to mech perfectly too but he mainly doesnt want the shock on the drivetrain which could upset the rear unwantingly. It is very precise... And then has the power he wanted. Its all about feeling. Gan San is legendary. This guy wears ray bans with his business attire and loafers, to go all out in a open top prototype. Kei is the king and Gan San is the legend!
