I really liked all the footage you gave for each of the common read/reactions you went over. Especially the positioning examples on so many specific matchups. Those can take hours of guesswork to discover on your own without such a clear picture of the openings you're missing out on exploiting. I also don't know why I never thought of cancelling the clutch claw after a stagger state more often, as I often end up wasting potential uptime re-softening an already weakened part. Only recently hit a thousand hunts of dooting, but as a HH main I approve this vid.

The 'spinny spin' is an amazing move, but I highly suggest always keeping 3 Impact Echo Waves/Echo Wave "Dragon" 's in your song list for when the monster's down. More DPS, higher KO damage by far and if it's a monster that's downed for a long period of time go for the encore! HUGE damage on the last Impact wave after initial hits. Atleast a 2-400damage differences within the same combo time frames. Try it out :)

From a neutral standpoint or during a combo? A hilt stab is faster if you want to finish a combo but from a neutral, non-attacking state, the neutral recital is the fastest way

so what about impact echo wave song? does that still do less dps overall than the note 4 spam? even with 3 echo wave songs stacked up & encore? if so, then what is even the point of that song?
@MonsterHunterPH4 жыл бұрын
Sorry for responding so late to this. Impact Echo wave is still trumped by the Echo Spin attack in terms of damage (even if you do a 3x Impact combo). The fact that Echo Spin attacks do crits is what makes it very good. However, if you want to inflict a lot of KO damage, Impact Echo is the way to go. You also preserve sharpness much better that way.
@necrosisofphilosophy52474 жыл бұрын
I am a greatsword and hammer main and my buddy was like you would love hunting horn, I asked why? And he said huge attack and it's a hammer with extra steps, I now regularly use a might secret build with super recovery and the furious rajang horn, my health has never been greener
@MisterCynic184 жыл бұрын
What about impact wave recital/encores? is it valid to play those for damage over just continuing to spam the echo wave? I see if you manage to encore a full three song impact wave recital the damage is like five times what a single recital does, but given how long it takes I'm not sure if it beats out the spin to win playstyle
@MonsterHunterPH4 жыл бұрын
For a build with 100% affinity, Echo Spin Attacks still outdamage those but not by much. The main problem with 3x Wave recitals is the setup, the time and commitment it requires, and for dragon wave, diminishing returns. Impact Echo x3 is pretty strong but there are so few monsters that topple long enough to enable a full X3 combo + encore to hit reliably. Using Echo Wave recitals also preserves sharpness better, so something to consider. This has considerably more stun values too. Dragon Echo x3 has diminishing returns and is not a very good combo unless you want to preserve sharpness. Echo Spin Attacks are faster and require less commitment. They can also crit.

Just came across your tutorial and I find it very informative, just like Grifted’s videos. I mainly use charge blade but I’m liking HH as of late. The only thing I noticed is with the encore directions. Sometimes when I do follow the recital with an encore, the character swings the horn twice. I’d rather have it swing once so I can execute the songs faster. Any pointers? Thanks 😊 Also there’s not much sets/builds out there utilizing the new safi jiva armor or weapons. It’d be nice if you can steer us to the right direction. 😁
@MonsterHunterPH4 жыл бұрын
The encore hits depend on whether you are playing a two-note song or a song with more than two notes. Two note songs are Self-Improvement and the new Echo Wave Songs, they will ALWAYS encore with only one swing if you encore sideways and two swings if you encore forward or backwards. For three & four-note songs, they will always add an additional attack in the encore when compared to the two-note songs. Two attacks sideways; Three attacks Forward and Backward. Hope this helps!

Knowing the timing isn't that helpful. The counter window is just extremely tight. It's basically the instant you get hit. 100% of the time you miss the timing, it is because you are too early.

I'm a HH main and my only beef with this video is the whole "echo wave should be your primary attack" part. Echo wave is great for elemental and status dmg but it chews through sharpness insanely fast. Instead, I use forward+triangle+circle > hilt stab > repeat
@MonsterHunterPH4 жыл бұрын
That's a good point actually, I was so caught up with all the master's touch builds that I didn't think of bringing that up in the video. But yes, that is a valid point, builds that do not include master's touch would indeed revolve on using a combination of echo spins and echo explosions to preserve sharpness.
@Popmycherryyo4 жыл бұрын
So with Echo waves being better when ko'd and doing damage, for picking horns now, is it a "must-have" that they know the echo waves song and attack up L? If you're somewhat at least trying to be optimal, and not just "playing for fun" or trying to use something that looks cool/buffing your party with shit.
@MonsterHunterPH4 жыл бұрын
Yes, very much so and this is the main reason why the Acid Glavenus horn is still a top horn even with Safi Horns out. For Safi horns, all speedrunners build them up with Attuck Up XL in mind

Does anyone if it’s more optimal to go for just the echo wave combo or a full impact echo wave combo while a monster is down or incapacitated.
@MonsterHunterPH4 жыл бұрын
Echo Spin = More Damage / Status / Element / lesser time commitment 3x Echo Impact = More Stun Values / Less Sharpness loss Echo Spin still wins in the damage department especially if you have 100% Affinity and 3 levels of Crit Boost. A 3x Echo Impact is normally not possible to pull off on T2 and higher level monsters unless you caused a KO with the initial recital, knocked off a flying monster, or caused Arena rocks to drop.
@teguh.hofstee4 жыл бұрын
@@MonsterHunterPH If you can get a 3x echo impact + recital it can potentially do more damage than echo spins. The recital is very fast and does the damage of all 3 echo impacts combined. In my rough tests it seems like about 20% more DPS when possible (but I don't have max Affinity).

Fortunately, that is not the case. Every time you play a song, it adds several seconds to the current duration. This is also why the "Extend All Melodies" song on the Acid Glav horn is very useful, because it extends all songs (even that of your allies and other hunting horns). If you are on PC, you can see this for yourself when using mods that show buff duration.
