I did it all . Farm is a way of life. Born a a dairy farm. After high school worked for a bigger dairy farm. Did milking. Plowing, planting , harvesting for a year in a half Forty years ago . Give it up now retired after working 38 years for a great company. I always enjoy these videos because once a farmer always a farmer.

Farming videos are my favorite. Sonne Farms and of course Welker Farms. When I was much younger I got to run a tractor long before air conditioning was were part of farming. You got to see so much sitting on a tractor. Raptors in the sky and baby deer laying in the field. How I miss it.

Nice job. That’s a lot of bales and putting them out at a fast pace. As a teenager in eastern PA, on the hills, my brother and myself used to help an older farmer stack hay and straw on the wagon right off the baler. Then unload and stack it in the barn. Hay on one side straw on the other. Hot, muggy, sticky, dry and sweaty work but when it was done you know you accomplished something. That something wasn’t just work, it was perseverance, grit, love for what your doing and faith in what you believe. Good job. Brings back some good memories. Bless you and your family.

Kayla, your explanation on farming and being nervous on running the tractors and baler,but by tackling the job head on you have conquered the job and you are a natural at it. I am glad that you have the hay to bale. As you know there is a lot of the country in drought conditions, so even though you are in extreme baling mode you are blessed. Hey there! I'm in NE Missouri also and for the last 10 years I've been taking 'vacations' in June/July to head out to the family farm and run the big round baler for my Dad. It's very satisfying seeing all those big round bales sitting on a freshly baled field in the long summer sunsets, especially after a long, hot, dirty, dusty day with breakdowns thrown in. I'd love to run a 5250 and perhaps will hopefully get one someday but for now our faithful IH 1086 and 856 gets the job done every time. Wish you the best, God Bless!

well iv watched videos and this is the first time iv seen a tractor operator slow down from 2 to 1-1 or evan slower normally they race along barely giving the baler time to pack a wod and plug the baler.. you are a star madam wish other people would do as you have done.

It brings back so many memories of my Dad and I when we ran a custom haying operation back in the 60's and 70's. We ran Case tractors and a New Holland baler and rake. JD won’t come out with a small inline baler ... our dealers been on Jason but until the do an in-line we’ll stick with Massey! This is our second baler in the 1840 series!! So it must be good .... we’ve got a couple days rain! So probably won’t mow anything until Monday. And it’ll be the rest of first cut (later than we’d like but Mother Nature controls that) grass that we will all do in Large Squares I believe. I’m running out of barn space believ it or not

N.E. Missouri looks, in some ways, very similar to the Red River Valley country of North Dakota. I'm originally from North Dakota, but your part of Missouri is absolutely beautiful. Amazing amount of hay per day I’m Running 96 Case/IH 5240 the air conditioning would stop working at idle Come to find out the condenser wasn’t getting enough air through it to keep it cool I ordered a 10” cooling fan and relay wiring overlay attaching the fan to the front of the condenser and connecting the relays signal wire to to the compressor clutch coil wire I spent 25$ now cold air at all times Also I use air compressor to blow out the radiator, condenser,oil cooler every morning Happy Harvesting ,

I had another thought come to me while watching this video. When you were talking about how scared you were when you started running the small square baler, I went back to the day probably 12 years ago or maybe even more by now when Carl called me over to the tractor he was baling in and had me hop into the drivers seat and he sat on the edge of the fender and the arm of the seat. He said, "I'm gonna teach you how to run the baler today." Talk about going into panic mode! Finally, the last couple of years, its getting to be like second nature to me now, much like working ground has been for me most of my life since I learned how to do that when I was 9 years old.

It goes up & makes a turn to lay the bales on edge - allowing the hay to breathe/ go through its sweat if it’s going to a lot better in the barns.

With equipment cost now days it’s becoming a custom operation world for haying. But it’s worth the effort as a custom operator to know you’ve helped many ppl keep their livelihood and animals fed. That said I’ll keep to my round baler at 150+ tons a day capacity. Lol

I don’t miss the round baler except when things get real stressful like the last few days ... because rounds can sit outside - - unlike squares they can’t ... but I like feeding the squares during winter for our setup. We can feed 4-6 big squares in 20-25 minutes. Where as rounds take me a good hour or more.

Our biggest thing is we can’t compete with round bales ... if we were to sell A Round Bale for the same as we are getting for our large squares we’d need $86.00 a bale ... that ain’t gunna fly here ..

Bale every 7 seconds will get you 514 bales in an hour. That's phenominal. The best I ever got with my John Deere 336 was 380 bales an hour baling irrigated alfalfa. It was a 4000 bale days. I'm new to you channel and subscribed.

Back in 60's we would pick, move, stack 3000 bales in a day. For like .25. Pop up loader. Sometimes a rattler would be in the bale. Got exciting for the guy at the catcher deck.

Spray the tractor AC condensor and radiator to keep them clean. Also, clean the cabin air filter often. You are working in a high dust environment. It will keep your AC working better. Nice to see the equipment working well. You guys get it done. Hard work breeds success.

Good video we do custom hay and our own but we mainly only do rounds if we were to feed squares by the time we got all the herds fed we would have to start over again 🤣but lots of money in the squares we just don't have the time. We only do 500 to 1000 max on squares for a few people who need them and we use them for calves and cows having to come in. The markets are never going to get easier so the best thing is to keep at it and get more because soon the tractor will me 200k for a 95 hp😅 yall have a good one 👍

Great work ethic. We try to not go over 20 minutes rounder with a load to the stack running a 1032 bale wagon which carries 69 bales at a time. Hay is always a good thing and this year in very high demand.

I can say this, If I still drove semi, I would calling you to get a load of your Hay, I can put 1000 bales of hay in my hay barn. You are absolutely right about the crops it can always get worse. We had tons of rain and now it's cooling off early and we have some fields on 2nd some on 4th and yield is all over the place but for anybody to come down here to tennessee it is to far away to haul efficiently that's the same thing with your area 4 to 6 hrs driving is about max.

My uncle couldn't conceive of a minute of his life that didn't involve some form of farming. Dairy mostly on family farms large enough to make it worth the trouble. He was born and raised to live a 19th century self-sufficient lifestyle and the modern circumstances that brought about something like your haying event were his idea of "Hog Heaven". I remember well the days of following the bailers just to drag the hay to a centralized row so the men could tossed and stacked them on the wagon before dark.

We have both - but the cost of the machines are a lot different - our specific niche is in small squares for our equine clients. In 2020 we made the decision to quit round baling and found a used agco 7433 cutter 3x3x8 large square that we send mostly to dairies and use on our own farm as well

We doing Angus, at the moment as that is what’s readily available! We do have some red cows as wells. The red ones are very tasty.

Depending on where you live, and what’s readily available. You will have to keep generating/ breeding calves to grow your herd! Similar 9 months till calves are born when they hefers are breed up, or you buy Hereford calves to raise up. Usually of there is a near by Milk dairy production farm you can buy up the calves they have.
