FULL HD360VR video of La Plagne's Mont de la Guerre piste in the Champagny-en-Vanoise sector. See the best guide to La Plagne at laplagne360.com or watch the preview version at • La Plagne piste guide ... . For many people, Mont de la Guerre is the best run in the whole of La Plagne - and, in many ways, it’s easy to see why. This run literally has everything - narrow tracks, wide-open motorway sections, tree riding, limitless off-piste and, of course, jaw-dropping scenery. The views across Trois Vallées, Pralognan-la-Vanoise and Grande Casse as you ride down this run must be some of the best in any ski resort, anywhere in the world.
Mont de la Guerre is accessed from the summit of Les Verdons on the Bozelet blue (be sure to stick right as you’re riding down or you’ll miss it). Starting on Bozelet, you’ll soon reach a small snack hut on the right - after which you’ll see a sign for Mont de la Guerre directing you right. The worst part of this run is the top as it features a long, winding traverse along the ridgeline of the summit and you really need to hold your speed to avoid poling/unclipping. After an impossibly long left turn (some of which seems uphill), you’ll veer right and suddenly the mountain opens before you - as does the view. You’ll likely want to stop here for the obligatory holiday selfie. The run starts on a pretty mellow gradient before gradually becoming steeper towards the bottom. For more timid riders, along the way, there are various drop-off points to join a winding track through the trees. This run would be more accurately graded blue but isn’t noted on the piste map for some reason. Anyway, you have that as an option if the red becomes a bit much.
If it’s open, Mont de la Guerre is most definitely worth doing. The best, most reliable times to catch it are normally mid-January to the start of March. Being South-facing and having a relatively low base of 1250m, it is often one of the first runs to close.

La Plagne is a French ski area in the Tarentaise (Isère) valley in the Savoie department of France. The resort joined with neighbouring Les Arcs in 2003, to form the massive Paradiski ski area. Paradiski is the third-largest ski area in the world behind Trois Vallées and Les Portes du Soleil.
La Plagne is the most popular ski resort in the world with more than 2.5 million visitors a season. The ski area is best suited to advanced beginner / intermediate level - though there is a wealth of easily-accessible, very challenging off-piste (in particular, off the Bellecôte glacier). You need a guide.
Plagne Centre accommodation is mainly in hotels and apartments (with a few chalet options too). The nightlife in Centre is more varied with more options than any of the other satellite stations. Centre is linked to Aime 2000 by a small cable car which runs until around midnight - after which there is a bus. Aime 2000 itself is an ugly monstrosity built high above Centre. The views here to Mont Blanc are breathtaking - but the resort itself is limited in terms of nightlife.
Plagne Bellecôte features stark, ugly - but highly functional - apartment accommodation. Much like Centre, most facilities are contained within one main building. There are two nightclubs and one main bar (Spitting Feathers). For other nightlife, you should take the bus to Plagne Centre or the télécabine to Belle Plagne (open until midnight). Belle Plagne is the newest of the La Plagne resorts and features probably the best nightlife and biggest range of accommodation including chalets, apartments and hotels.
