i really appreciate you making this guide and type of content! i love that your channel doesn’t have any sort of pretentious notion when it comes to niche vs dupes. most channels usually lean towards one of the other and like to promote/hype one over the other but i like that you seem to take a much more objective approach to fragrances. getting three people to test each fragrance on these videos shows you really care about providing good informative content. it sucks to hear that the clone for another 13 wasn’t even close but at the same time it’s just such a special fragrance i don’t mind just buying another bottle whenever i run out. i’m looking forward to seeing what you think of their viking and oud maracuja clone in the next video cause i’ve been considering picking those up for myself!

Thank you man! I sometimes get clones. At times I want the style of DNA but don’t care to spend $200 to have it and don’t want some decant that’s going to evaporate, degrade, and just become a clutter thing. I like clones and originals it just depends if I’m obsessed with the DNA it’s usually worth saving for the original and 100ml lasts forever in a rotation. The another 14 was very off. I 100% smelled spearmint gum paper. Like if you encounter spearmint gum and smell the paper after you remove the gum that’s what it smelled like to me. Not bad, not the same at all tho. I’d maybe have it as a flanker but my wife isn’t a fan. I didn’t get to locate a Viking sample I’d be super curious I think their sites been out for a while. Oud marajuca is in the next one, I can tell you they’re pretty different. My friend liked the Montagne my wife and I liked the OG. The original has way more fruit and for me the fruit is more realistic. The Montagne smells like a standard Oud fragrance. I actually felt the Montagne Oud marajuca smelled more like ombré Nomade than ombré noir did.

@ i feel the same way about clones. as a collector, i view them as alternatives and a cheap way to get scent profiles i otherwise wouldn’t fully invest in. i like montagne in particular cause their quality seems to be a step above most of the clone market. plus their bottle designs are much better than a majority of the middle eastern choices imo i do like the idea of a spearmint fragrance but the way you describe it makes me think i probably wouldn’t enjoy it. i was worried another 13 would smell like pencil shavings to me like how everyone else describes it but i don’t get any sort of paper smell. it’s probably the strongest performing fragrance in my collection and it’s a fruity clean musk bomb to me. i’m not surprised that clones haven’t been able to replicate it just yet because it’s very unique viking’s been sold out ever since i found out about montagne as well. but thanks for the early input on oud maracuja! you saved me a bad blind buy. i love the rich fruity aspect of oud maracuja and knowing that’s not as prevalent means it’s a skip for me

CG wow you are the first person who reviews fragrances on youtube to have the same reaction to Alexandria 2 like me. It does have a dirty diaper nuances for me which makes it off-putting to my nose. I made the mistake and blind bought based on so many recommendations none of which mentioned the fecal nuances.

For real. I actually don’t get fecal from many fragrances I do get barnyard… but I get fecal in Alexandria II it kinda reminds me of an armpit cumin smell it stinks I can like a little funk but it’s a lot. That and the baby powder makes me think of a diaper it’s a bad combination.

That confused me too, I feel like Alex 2 is more challenging than the few Amouages I’ve smelled gives me a little bit of urinal cake pissy diaper vibes. People talk about it like it’s a mass appealing oud. Did grow on me a little as I sampled it.

@@masudshah7405 yeah I bet some people get them and others don’t. Amouage king blue is one of my favorite fragrances I don’t get anything fecal to me it smells like a crowd pleaser but I read online all the time that it smells like poo lol. In this video you see we detect notes different. So maybe the subjectivity isn’t just personal preference maybe we’re literally smelling totally different things. It’s a trip to think about.

Great job guys! I really enjoy these videos. I just got the fragrance Mith - Mystery for Him. The perfumer behind it is Jean-Christophe Hérault. Has that Aventus feel to it but with more of a pineapple forward smell.

Love this series. But I think your dog may have chewed on that Eu Noir strip. Hahaha, because Noir 29 is also in my top 3 ever. And Eu Noir is damn close. Also hear Montagne has batch issues so maybe my bottle was a good match. Appreciate you investing in making a series like this! Dua and Alexandria fragrances may be a good series some day, Alexandria even offers sample packs so you don’t have invest in full bottles to compare.

Pineapple Absolu smells more like absolu Aventus but my friend and I are bigger fans of Precieux than Absolu Aventus it’s just fresher and stronger

Personally, it’s a hard choice… I like collecting Montagne so I’d prolly get pineapple Absolu for the presentation I like the bottle more but I do think Precieux smells a bit better. You can’t go wrong with either.

Great video. I blind bought two montagne’s 2 weeks ago, cacti garden and pacific moss, both smell good but are more feminine leaning, so I’ll likely give them out as gifts. Good quality. I might check out that pineapple absolu.

@@idolovelatinas3787 no I haven’t smelt any of the originals, but both are good scents. Pacific moss smells good, I just already have salty waves by Alexandria and it’s a bit redundant as they are around 85% similar.

I’m located in Southern Ontario Canada so Dossier is close to me but i heard Montagne is better because they use raw materials instead of pre mixed oils.. is that true? Either way i gotta try these at some point.

I haven’t tried as many dossier I like their Le Labo impressions tho and I do think citrus tea is better than Eau noir but I’m sure people feel the opposite. I like dossier they have some real misses like any brand their Oud wood is way off.

Do you have any longevity issues with Montagne? I have 4 of them and they become just a skin scent after about 4 hrs.

I haven’t with any that I’ve actually worn but I haven’t worn too many of them. I know promise exclusif is one of the strongest and longest lasting fragrances I’ve ever tried also very happy with mystic Ouds performance, Sicilian tobacco, Cognac D’Ange and Torino 2022. I would imagine it’s specific to the scents themselves tho I doubt anything inspired by afternoon swim will out perform a darker profile.

It is really weird it gets weirder on episode 3 too lol. I get confused as hell like my friend thinking noir 29 was close but to me it was super easy to tell the difference. My wife getting arm pit from mind games blockade I don’t get that at all. It seems we pickup completely different details at times. This felt like a study on the subjectivity of it all as much as it felt like a Montagne video lol.

@@t.a.i.m4503 I did not like symphony at all, for me it’s one of the worst LV’s. It takes what makes some of their other fragrances good like afternoon swim and cranks it up. Like imagine afternoon swim with no citrus or woods, and just floral. Way too feminine.

I will say I have the original Image and a bottle of reflection man and they were not close at all and I GREATLY preferred the original. Never smelled their reflection 45 clone I dont think, but I do remember my Alexandria fragrances sample of their 45 clone being decently similar to my bottle of OG 45. It's funny I also think I heard you say in one of your reviews that you think jubilation 40 is more dissimilar from jubilation XXV than reflection is from reflection 45 and I hard disagree on that point. I think reflection 45 is different enough from reflection that it would not be redundant to own both. Jubilation 40 to me does just smell like a richer, darker version of XXV. Fragrance is subjective though so it's interesting to hear your impression vs mine.
