This song was made to bring happiness during this covid outbreak. There was no other purpose, except to be fun. They were working on their new album coming out in the next few months and " DYNAMITE" wasn't a planned song. The demo came across them and they wanted a challenge, they thought the song and lyrics were perfect. So.... BTS rose to the challenge. I think they did awesome, very proud of them doing something that was out of their element! Thanks for the reaction.

Some people say it reminds them of Can't stop the feeling by Justin Timberlake, maybe something Bruno Mars like uptown funk, and even Katy Perry during the teenage dream era. BTS really had no intention of making a song in english but came across this song while making their new album and decided they liked it the way it was so they just kept it the same. They just wanted to do something fun and uplifting to bring joy and comfort to people during these difficult times. My hopes are that because it's in english they will finally get the radio play they deserve and people will become more open to listening to BTS because a lot of people might not guess it's BTS without seeing it's them because they are not singing in korean. Also this video broke the record for the most viewed video in 24 hours with 101.1 million views. We're going for that number 1 on billboard hot 100.

It made me feel happy! As many already said, it a song to "cheer you up," a summer party song. And to make you feel like moving in a happy way, not with complicated chorio. It has lots of Michael Jackson references in the dance and the lyrics use catch phrases from the 70s and 80s. The lyrics are easy and repeat which make it easier for a first all English attempt. In many of the interviews they said they had fun making it - therapeutic for them and us.

I’m more drawn to BTS’ more rap, hip hop, R&B and indie/folk tracks and lyrically darker songs but dang it this song so catchy can’t stop bopping my head and trying the MJ kicks! yes, you can say it's generic. it's a typical american pop song. i'm not saying negative about the american/western composers. the boys' song compositions have far more depth in them. this was made according to the boys is to give light to the current unfortunate situation going on in the world. it's from a combination of quite a few 70's-90's american pop music from my observation. and i agree with Chris. i can't understand half of what the american/western singers are singing. maybe is just me too. lol.

First, you guys are cute. Second, I do agree is not my favorite of theirs but it's purpose is to uplift our spirits amidst this pandemic and I think it does that. Watching the video always brings a smile to my face. Third, it might seem familiar because it is disco infused. I am 42 so for me it reminded me of the Bee Gees and John Travolta on Saturday Night Fever. The newer generation has mentioned Bruno Mars a lot. I think he has a few songs that have 70s disco vibe.

Appreciate this review. In all honesty, the amount of autotune is a disservice to their real voices - they perform well live while dancing which is no small feat. Though some of the members like RM have had credit on a large amount of their songs, all the members will be much more involved in the upcoming album. I'm excited at what their mixing choices will be. Other than that, the MV itself was enjoyable for me. It's amplified when you know the members more and see their personalities shine through, but all the references to different time periods ( wasn't able to catch them all, am fairly young, but everyone peeped those MJ moves! ). Jackson's nephew said they do MJ proud and that's... a *huge* compliment. Even with the autotune choices I dislike, and that this isn't my favourite genre of song ( Blood Sweat and Tears was my jam - trap, 'tropical house' with dancehall and reggaeton influences) BTS always take a stab at something and passion does shine through regardless. They cover so many genres they might not have a 'niche' as a whole group, per se, but there will always be songs that gel with you even if some don't. Just a conspiracy theory, and BTS may have just made a few different choices which didn't gel with me this time, but... It wouldn't suprise me if their style of production, lyric writing and that they're doing a song fully in english for the first time was decided on purely because they want radio play. They've got awards, billboards, AMAs etc and they still can't get radio play. Slightly unfair. Sorry for the excessive rambling ! Just thought I'd share my two cents :)
