Joe Montana is always a class-act on and off the field. The Super Bowl runs Montana and Clark had together in early 1980s launched the 49ers as a Football Dynasty. Thank you both for great plays and memories. RIP Dwight Clark. Salute the GOAT Joe Montana.

I was lucky enuff to have known both Joe Montana and D. C. from there early days of practicing at Sierra college in Rocklin Ca. I can say with all honesty I have never met two nicer or more likable gentlemen who were just out to play footbal and enjoy life!God bless them both! Thanks, Joe, for sharing your friendship with us. Dwight wasn't just a great football player, he was also a great person. The son of my best friend was born handicapped and never walked a day in his far too short life. But Brad was a huge 9er fan. When the 9ers still had their spring training near the Marysville/Yuba City Ca. area Dwight somehow learned about Brad and actually visited him while Brad was in one of his many hospital stays. Needless to say, it was the highlight of Brad's 29-year life.

I had the honor to meet DC and his wife Ashley when my best friend Bob (RIP) and I went to install shower doors and mirrors at their San Carlos hills home. I bought a brand new Wilson football, hoping he would be there to sign it. He was and did. He was really friendly and hung out with us for long while. On the ball he wrote "Remember the Catch" and "good luck to our new business" Ashley signed it too. DC, a good soul....

That last bit just made me cry in matter of one second. Well done….while battling cancer that my dad would ultimately pass away from, we all went to see the 49ers play a charity basketball game at Seaside HS, in Seaside, CA in early 2000’s. Mid mid game, Dwight falls into the stands chasing the ball out of bounds. He practically falls into my fathers lap. Jokingly, Clark puts his arm around my dad, asks my dad what’s fun yo do afterwards in Monterey. He hung out talking to my dad for a minute who two while the game was still going on. After a couple of minutes he says thanks and “I gotta get back to the game.” My dad looks at me and says,”that was so cool”

That's an amazing memory! I'm so sorry for your loss. I loss my Dad less than a year ago to cancer. His love for San Francisco and his 49ers rubbed off on me. I'm so thankful we went to candlestick together and talked on the phone during every game we weren't together for. His name was Joe and he was born in '49. It was meant to be. The Catch and D.C. were epic! He and that whole team were amazing on and off the field.

The great thing about Joe is, if you listen to the old tapes, it’s the same old Joe who took us to the Super Bowl in 82. DC , Joe, Jerry, the crew from those years... had that cool demeanor that made you believe anything was possible. They were calm, warm and icy cold on the field all at the same time. The ultimate professionals.

As a little boy in Texas I was a Cowboy fan. But I got tired of them losing in the Super Bowl twice to the Steelers. After they lost the second one I said "Enough of this I will no longer be a fan of them." So for a couple of years I followed no team. Then with what would be the last championship games I would see with my dad I saw the 49ERS vs Dallas. And after seeing The Catch I told my dad that the 49ERS were going to be my team. Which angered my dad since he was a Cowboy fan.😂 R.I.P. #87 & You My Father. Miss You Papa.💔😢😭

Brady may be called today's goat, but he will never equal Montana. I still remember the stories when Montana stayed at Dwight's house after college. Young girls used to leave beer on his doorstep along with notes. Montana makes lifelong friends wherever he goes, something Brady lacks. And Dwight was one of the best.

I didn't become a 49ers fan until they drafted Joe Montana. I grew up watching him play at Notre Dame and being a Joe Montana fan never changed but along the way I became a fan of a bunch of other player's and Dwight Clark was one of them. I never met he, Joe Montana, Freddie Solomon, Ronnie Lott, Eddie DeBart...but I feel like I know them personally. They all seem to have that Joe Montana kind cool and decent human beings to talk to type of vibe. R.I.P. Mr. Dwight Clark and Freddie Solomon. I hope as I age I never forget "The Catch" or the story about moments before "The Catch" how Joe Montana in one of the biggest most defining moments notices R.I.P. John Candy in the crowd.

Yes his team mate Freddie Solomon died in Feb 2012 of liver cancer. There is another Freddie Solomon, now 47 who played for the Eagles from 1995-98 but I don't know much about him.
