As a lifelong Chiefs fan this was one of my favorite games watching as a teenager, will never forget it and the game against Houston the following week.
@davidroberts72823 жыл бұрын
It's a miracle you didnt lose this game, because Pittsburgh had forced a 3-and-out with less then 3:30 left in the 4th quarter and a wiser, smarter set of offensive plays from the Steelers OC wouldve given them just another set of downs and ice'd the game away. Even in forcing a punt, if Chiefs vaunted special teams don't cause a blocked punt, Montana doesn't have enough room or momentum to drive the Chiefs down the shortened to tie the game, send it into OT, and thankfully made the GW-winning FG this time. I think this contest is a microcosm of how Marty Schottenheimer micromanaged his teams' so badly and methodically that even when he had great teams for all those years in Cleveland and Kansas City, smarter, more instinctive better game-day HC's always seemed to be one step ahead of him and he was wayyyy to rigid in his philosophy to change it up and try and amend it to make it less it cumbersome. These games also show that while not always perfect, in terms of being a great tactician, knowledgable HC but also a better game-day HC, Andy Reid is lights years ahead of Marty Schottenheimer ever was and will ever be known for. Montana won this game and following week's Houston away team in spite of Schottenheimer's schemes or gameplans. He and Marcus Allen, especially, and a ferocious pass defense.

@@davidroberts7282 I agree with you, I could go on and on about Marty ball and heartache, still have great memories of this team.
