Robert Hanneman and his son Colter embark on an adventure of a lifetime. Colter was lucky enough to draw one of the best Buffalo tags in the state. Many miles and unknown obstacles lay ahead as they saddled up the horses and started out on the trail, but this hunt quickly turned from one of the most stressful trips of the year to a journey they all knew they'd never forget.

I have never been hunting in my life. I have never seen a buffalo or an elk in my life. I live in Hungary, central Europe...But this video was a spine chilling experience even from the other side of the planet. One day your son will tell about this hunt to his son. This was one of the best videos I've seen in a while. What an experience for anyone, let alone an 11 year old and 3 great friends. That area was unreal with wildlife and could only imagine an opportunity to hunt there. Congrats to the young man for his Buffalo and the other hunter for his elk. The meat they provided for their families is far healthier than the meat at the store. The pleasure is not just in the kill it is in the hunt itself. What an absolute memory for your son. Some of my best days ever, were hunting with both my father, and my grandfather. I am an old man now myself, and I have taken as many kids hunting as I could. This is important to keep the hunt alive. Please congratulate your son for me, and tell him to ignore the mean talkers that will inevitably show up on this video, if they haven't already. BTW, that is also a dandy bull elk the other hunter scored.

I remember I didn’t truly appreciate these types of hunts until I started doing them on my own. The: scouting, buying gear, looking at google earth, target practice, coordination, hiking, admiring the beauty of the earth and when it all comes together, it truly is hard to describe the feeling you experience to others that haven’t.

How do you deal with the smell that must be coming from that head after 4 days? Also wouldn't leaving the meat in the camp could attract predators like Grizzlies? Asking from a non hunter perspective.

I have a friend who hunts. They have to take the animal out over multiple days. The temp is cold enough so as not to tarnish the carcass
