Thanks Anthony. That is much appreciated. Now if I could just improve the lighting a bit, the camera and the sound - as well as making the videos shorter and more impactful - then we may get something half decent :-). But it’s great to hear a kind word now and then, thanks!

@@WristMech I'm not complaining, you seem to have a superb collection, would love to see them all in a video one day 🙂

Thank you so much for this video! I just bought the khaki green one with the full bronze case, but I do prefer the gold sunburst dial! You're awesome!

Hi. Thanks for your comment. And congratulations on the green with bronze - that is an amazing piece. I love the colours, and the green and bronze goes so well together.

I just bought the newer version of this with the ceramic bezel with compass points luminous. It is an amazing blue color.

Hi William. Yes, I really like that version too!

Nice watch but they didn't choose the right strap for the watch. A green or a charcoal strap would suit better with the bronze color of the case top and champagne color of the dial imho. Or perhaps a more suitable choice would be contrasting color.

Great review, thanks for posting. How is the power reserve holding so far?
@WristMech5 жыл бұрын
Ha Ha, Emilio, you caught me :-) I usually don’t confess this, but I never check the power reserve. I change watches 1-2 times a day, so it takes a while before I get back to this one. And by that time I have to start it again. So it’s my bad. I never check it. Just like lume. I never check the lume (although everyone talks a lot about lume). I don’t sleep with the hand on the night stand, so I never use the lume. Now I have confessed my two sins to you :-)

I'm on the fence with this one but I'm digging the missing second hands.
@WristMech3 жыл бұрын
Hi. Thanks for viewing it. I’m actually liking the missing seconds hand, so no problem there. The only problem I have is that I don’t wear it that often. That is the mystery of watch collecting. I totally like the way the watch looks, it’s awesome, and still I don’t wear it too much. Maybe because there is no bezel, and I’m used to divers with bezel. Hmmm. Such is life :-)

Please add lume shots to your review, which is a very interesting one, and comprehensive in all respects but this. Thanks!

Agree. I keep telling myself to remember it, but I just never use lume myself, that’s why it keeps slipping my mind :-). But I’m glad you liked the rest of it. Have a great day!

I heard that this watch has a 'movement noise' issue?! Is this the case?
@WristMech4 жыл бұрын
No problems at all, at least in my case.

Thank you for the interesting review. I purchased the same watch some month ago before seeing your review, generally like it and use it as my daily watch. I recognized that ticking of the Montblanc 1858 ist quite loud compared to my other automatic watches plus the automatic rotor seems and sounds like it it loose when you shake the watch. Did you notice ist similarly?
@WristMech5 жыл бұрын
Hi philmusik. I just tested this for you. The ticking is very low and I can’t hear anything unless I put it right up to my ear. Also, there is nothing loose when I shake the watch. There is a rotor, of course, and it makes a sound when you turn the watch, but all automatics have that. I think maybe the problem is with your watch only. Have a watchmaker see if anything is loose inside. The only sound I hear is when I wind the watch. When winding the sound is a little bit more pronounced than my other automatics, but not much. Other than that, silent.

Mine doesn't seem to live up to the 38 hour power reserve. It is also noisy when you shake it slightly into life. Bought it new IN 2019
@WristMech2 жыл бұрын
I never test the power reserve…because I’m switching between watches. But the noise is real when you shake it into life. But only in the beginning. Once it is wound up, I don’t hear or feel anything. Great watch - and strangely one without a seconds hand. It took some getting used to.
