He didnt play in 82 (except Monte Carlo). He retired officialy in january 1983. This was his farewell tournament.

@@perh5517 never knew that , but I remember he returned in the early 90s and was a way off the pace and quit again shortly after as the game had moved on ,

@@perh5517 He also played at Stuttgart 1984, where he also lost to Henri Leconte in the 1st round. This here was a second round match I think (round of 16). Apart from that Borg also played a lot of Exhibition tournaments (unofficial tennis matches) after 1981.

He had a big argument with the tour after 1981. He was basically burnt out but they insisted he had to follow the new rules and play a minimum of 10 tournaments a year, which he wasn't willing to commit to. In 1982, he played only one tournament (Monte Carlo) before losing to Yannick Noah. He officially announced his retirement in January 1983, but actually played two more tournaments: Monte Carlo in 1983 and then Stuttgart in 1984, losing to Leconte both times.
