We hope you enjoy this Madeira walking tour through Monte Palace Madeira Botanical Garden. Monte Palace Madeira occupies an area of 70,000 square meters and houses an huge exotic plant collection from all over the world. Swans and ducks populate the central lake and peacocks and chickens wander freely. The black swans originate from Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand and the wild white swans have their origin in Iceland and Scandinavia.
The Monte Palace Madeira Museum is an exhibition space nestled within the beautiful surroundings of a tropical garden, dedicated to sculptures and a unique mineral collection gathered from the four corners of the world. The exhibition 'African Passion' which was there at the time, shows part of a collection of contemporary Zimbabwean sculpture from the period 1966 to 1969.
One of the most interesting characteristics of the Monte Palace Madeira is the existence of a large collection of tile panels placed along the walkways and amongst the vegetation acquired by José Berardo, under the specialist direction of Manuel Leitão. This collection, considered to be one of the most important in the country after that of the National Tile Museum, is made up of Hispano-Moorish tiles of the 15th and 16th centuries and panels produced in Portugal from the 16th to the 20th centuries.
The gardens have to be amongst the top 10 things to do in Madeira.

@@LivingWalks Love to go detecting. Usually, I get up at 6:00 AM or so and head down to the beach. Seldom find anything good, but the point is getting out and enjoying the morning. Love taking photos. We had a forest fire near our house. I grabbed my camera and headed towards the smoke. I used my long lens and took a nice shot of a helicopter dropping water on the fire. Yesterday I posted the photo on my site. Take care.... Keep up the wonderful work.

A really good video. I have walked the gardens many times but seeing them through someone else’s eyes (lens) made me appreciate them so much more. The coffee at the top cafe is probably the best in Madeira.
