Monte Vista vs. Sweetwater, CIF-SD Division IV Championship, 12/7/13

Sweetwater waits until there are three minutes left in the game to pull the halfback pass for a 16-yard TD pass as the Red Devils win their first CIF title since 1984. This was the first time Sweetwater has been in the playoffs since 2004. Early on there were for four turnovers by fumbles, two from each team. Then both teams seemed to settle down into their similar running games. The similarities between the two teams don't end at the offensive game. Both maroon clad teams had not won a CIF title in awhile (Monte Vista in 2003) and both teams had not won a playoff game since at least 2004. Both teams also had head coaches in their first or second year but were long time head coaches elsewhere.

Coach at the end of the video talks about how to coach, and explains in detail what needs to be done. Just want to make sure everyone who watches this knows that the things Coach Hay spoke about not doing to the kids, he did WORD FOR WORD at Hilltop High School. Talk down to the kids, cussed them out, consistently lied and not once set a good and positive example. His brand of football might win a CIF D4 championship, but if you want to know exactly who he is as a man, check his 4 years at Hilltop.

If you have that many you should build a new case and show your accomplishments proudly ... no CIF is getting cheaper as this game is not played at the Q either ...

Cheesy Trophy even for D-4 ... CIF is CHEAP !!!

The CIF-San Diego section likely changed their trophies last year from more substantial, wood block trophies to more slender versions in part because some schools were lacking space to store their 75, 80, or 100 plus trophies. If you look at the CIF Southern Section trophies many San Diego schools would not have room for all of their trophies

SportsOnTheSide some of these schools are public, with limited budgets and space. With Qualcomm, time was a limitation. I didn't like the trophies at first but they grow on you. And one of these days the trophy might injury somebody when it is dropped during a celebration. The Chargers needed to resod their field and normally would need 7-10 days before playing a game. But the Chargers allowed CIF to play on Monday, even though their next game was Sunday (Giants). Usually CIF would play four championship games in one day at Qualcomm but the Chargers asked to have the last game start early (5 pm) so the crews could start getting the field ready for the resod as soon as possible. So there were only three games played (Open, D1, D2) at the Q.
