Thank you for sharing this video. It was right on time and speaking directly to me especially when you spoke on devaluing or downplaying compliments or accepting things from others. I guess because I am use to helping others that my mindset was like I didn't matter but deep down inside I wanted more. The statement that one 'cannot afford it' is not always a shutdown for many but instead their immediate financial truth. Maybe they have decided to not spend for a certain period of time due to their financial status at the time and this statement helps them to keep on track with their no-spending season until they have gotten back on track financially. I do agree about looking at other means and ways that one can fund something which does not cost them anything on their end or placing it in their budget in the future if it is something they really want to do.

Thanks for your comment. I hope this part of the video didn’t come across as dismissive of peoples situations. I understand that people may not have the financial means for certain things, myself included. However, I do stand by what I’ve said about avoiding solely using that phrase. “I can’t” holds so much weight and is limiting. “It’s not in my budget right now” would be a better way to rephrase it.

Love this video, but I think it’s a little dangerous to only be around happy ppl all the time. I say this because as you grow and your friends have children, careers, & marriages, ppl go through a lot. I am a friend who they can come to if they are not “happy” I also maintain my own balance so it’s not all negative but your real friends won’t be positive and happy 24/7. Ppl go through things and to disregard them because they are having a hard time can be isolating and then you become a bad friend. You can’t only be there for ppl when they win. Being an all around friend is how you keep genuine friendships for a lifetime. Just wanted to add that 😊💕🙏🏽

Just accept the compliment! No need to reply back w/another. In turn, what you’re doing is still not completely receiving the compliment by feeling like you need to give back. When you receive a surprise gift do you give a gift back in return? That’s what it’s like for your brain when receiving a compliment. But Typically you’re surprised when you receive a compliment.
