Interesting fact: the Leyland Cypress (controversial but extremely popular landscaping tree) is a hybrid between a Monterey Cypress and an Alaskan Cedar.

That is interesting. That’s a popular tree in California landscapes. Good looking tree until it’s fast growing habits has it getting too big and gangly. Thanks for that knowledge.

How would you describe how those trees smell? It's interesting that they smell like lemons when you rub the leaves. Do they have a particular smell when you are just standing near them? I once heard that there was a type of cypress tree that almost smelled like skunk.

Not familiar with the skunk smell version. When standing under them on a sunny day the have a pine smell

Depends where you live. They like moist cooler climates so nurseries in those areas should carry them.
