Video presents the method to keep the long rods in front of the child such that he can work with it independently. the aim is to give a sense of length since all the rods are of same dimension colour and shape. These rods only diffrentiate from one another in length. Hence the perseption is purely visual and the child absorbs the idea of short and long. The control of error is inside the presentation, as you can see that the length of the smallest rod fits exactly with the edge of every consequetive length.
