We’re a Montessori family as well. I love that your step stool is adjustable. I’ve been thinking of investing in one just like this. And your book ideas are really cute. My son is a big reader, so I’m always looking for new interesting books . ❤️

Great ideas, I’ll definately add the easel to our list. I thought my son would be a bit young but I now realise he’ll probably love it! I’d love a pikler triangle too but our appartement is just too small. I wouldn’t be comfortable getting him one and then constantly have to restrict him in what he’s allowed to do preventing him from hitting a wall, poor baby 🥴. We also have some other gifts on our list : a balance bike and the way to play road pieces -those are flexible route parts they can use anywhere (outside, inside, at bathtime) We also have an item he got last year and still really love, it’ll last for years and is so versatile : a wobbel board.

Please let me know if he likes the balance bike! I’ve heard such mixed reviews I haven’t wanted to invest... yet. And I’m going to look into those road pieces. And OMG yes I wanna get her a wobbel board too! I forgot about that one!!!! Does he love it?!?

Although we don’t have it yet, I’m pretty confident the balance bike will be a big success. He loves anything on wheels, he has a little scooter and one of those cars you can sit on, and whenever we go to the square he loves investigating all the other kids’ bikes- it will be really interesting to see how he adapts to the balance bike. The wobbel had been great, he got it from us last Christmas when he was almost 1. He’s a cautious little one so hasn’t really wanted to test out the balancing feature yet but he loves climbing on it and ‘sliding’ down, letting balls/cars/.. roll over and under it..it’s so versatile !

@@kbutrie For Montessori aligned I found this tadpole to frog book by the Natural History Museum second hand and it's fantastic. They have a bunch of others as well. Also DK books are great! We're not strictly montessori so the golden acorn is the cutest story and we love 5 little pumpkins (of course now that Halloween is over 😂)

These are such good gift ideas. I just transitioned to the Montessori at Home method. Happy I found your channel. I've been wanted to invest in a pikler. I got my daughter a few animal figurines and making her some matching language cards to go with them.

I would recommend books if you're giving gifts to children that is, learning books that can be helpful to children at a young age grow and learn. I'd go for tailor made ones such as *personalised childrens books*

Loved watching this video. We got our girl a pikler for Christmas as well. I am hoping it gets lots of use. Would you recommend getting a rocker as well?
@kbutrie
@kbutrie 3 жыл бұрын
Ahh you’ll have to let me know how she likes it! We couldn’t wait to give ours to Olivia 😂. I do like having both the triangle and rocker because the setup she likes the most is having the plank going from one to the other... BUT you could also wait and see and add it later! She might not feel anything is “missing” since she’s not used it one way or the other yet. Hope that’s helpful :)

What do you think about the Waldorf weighted babies?
@kbutrie
@kbutrie 3 жыл бұрын
Good question! Personally I don’t really like them 🥴. I know they’re supposed to look more ambiguous to foster more imagination but they just don’t seem “real life” enough for me and I wonder if Olivia would like them. I’m hoping the more realistic dolls will capture her attention. What are your thoughts on the Waldorf ones?

love this !! as a mom who WANTS to enter into the Montessori world with my 2year old, do you have any recommendations transitioning a child that isn’t use to the Montessori ways ? deciding the only gift montessori toys this year !
@kbutrie
@kbutrie 3 жыл бұрын
You can TOTALLY do this! If you haven’t seen my video on starting Montessori for free, I’ll link it for you. Honestly so much of Montessori is FUN for your toddler so they’ll jump right in! Start with practical life if you can - letting them help you water plants, empty the dishwasher, do the laundry, cook, etc. Also self care is a good one that kids this age love - washing their own hands, taking off/on clothing articles, picking out clothes, etc. I’ll link my recent “day in the Life” too for some ideas 🤗🤗🤗

@@kbutrie I’ve been wanting to do Montessori but didn’t realize these things fall under that category. I cleaned out a cabinet for all my 2 year olds dishes and he put his up on his own. He also takes his laundry and loads into the washer and dryer. Has like 2 electronic toys but they are like race cars and he loves stuff like that so I don’t want to take away. We have tons of books and puzzles. I can’t afford a tower so I bought a stool hoping it work until I can get one! Looks like I’m on the right track!

Are you teaching your child the sounds of the letters or the names of the letters first?
@kbutrie

Great question! I know pure Montessori families will only teach sounds but honestly I’m doing both at the same time. She’s caught on to the letters faster but we still do sounds with letters too. 😊
