One of my favourite 8 bit Atari games. Best controller for this was the original 2600/8 bit Atari 1 button controller.. This is a great version/reworking. I think I’d prefer the new version but need to try it first.

Panama Joe is a character from Preliminary Monty (which is either bootleg or an alpha version of Montezuma). Pedro is from Montezuma Revenge. The difference is in the hat mainly

No. Pedro is the original name given by the author. But for Parker Bros, was uncommercial in that times also the clothes uses. In this case, the author returns to original cloths and names. But I prefer the original mode.

First The modern one looks cool but I’m glad they kept the Retro intact to be faithful. Now they are coming out on the eshop, but don’t get the eshop version because it’s $11.99 and it’s just a NES version, while this version is far better at like a quarter of the price.

I used to play it on the Atari 800XL, i just learned that it was a beta version which was leaked back then and was simply called "Montezuma" on the tape.

I actually love the modern mode. Updated graphics, same game play. Love the music, especially level 2. Besides the obvious retro systems, I’m currently playing on the iPhone. I didn’t even know about Steam until I saw this. I think it’s on Microsoft Store as well. Gonna download tomorrow.

Retro mode is the better mode. The Modern mode needs better sprite work.
