I think that part of the reason why Montgomery & Doris were such great friends was because they felt like outsiders. Doris because she wasn't cool or hip like Coco was and to be Gay in the 1980's was still a taboo. How far we've come in terms of acceptance.

He's also a frizzy haired carrot top! Wig? He does look like a natural ginger but he later went bald so you couldn't tell. He was on E.R.? Or some other medical drama series as a regular. Ironically none of the actors achieved any fame really, other than Irene Cara who had 2 big hit songs from this film and Flashdance. Although Ray and Curreri were main cast members of the T.V. series, which I remember watching as a kid. This actor and Miller had steady careers, appearing in various things but weren't famous. Miller had a lot of theater success though.

Kind of reminds me of Ron Howard here. Howard is a ginger as is his wife and his daughter, Bryce Dallas Howard.

I love that final line from Doris: I must use this feeling and use it in my acting. I've gotten a lot of mileage out of it over the years; for many annoying people and creative ventures that didn't quite work out. 😉

It's permanently etched into my mind as well, but for a different reason. It reminds me of h.s. drama class & i think it's use here is to show us how much she's grown by the end of the film. She's no longer using "techniques", she's more mature. She doesn't buckle to the whims of her emotions. She doesn't react nor act. She just blossoms & becomes. i really loved her by the end of the film. ✌💗💞

i never thought she was a very good actress until i commented above. That comment made me realize how much pity i felt for Doris in the beginning of the film & how much i adored her by the end! She didn't *FILM THE MOVIE* for *FOUR YEARS* ,😮 so, she's actually quite solid! 😍 *Happy Belated BirthDay!!* 🎊🎋💗 i 💘 ♏ !! 💞
