I’m going to be 4 years sober this August and that’s something to be proud of. In the most humble manner possible, I couldn’t have done it without Jesus. Some truly terrible things happened to me over the last 3 1/2 years and I’m basically the modern version of Job from the Bible. Yet, 4 1/2 years ago. I called upon the Lord after being an atheist all through college and he opened the clouds and left me standing in the light.

Here in my listening to this while my wife takes care of the baby and our 2 year old girl runs in and out of my office. This song kept me going back when I was 18 working a grunt construction job for $8/hr in Texas. Always dreamed one day it’d pay off and I’d have what I have now. Self funded trading account that more than pays the bills, a wife who is awesome, and two adorable kids. Wish I could go back, hug that desperate 18 year old, and thank him for the insane sacrifices he made so I could end up where I am now. In a way it feels like this song does that.

I always took my granddaddy’s stories for granted. I recently got out of the army and I miss sitting in front of his lazy chair. He was the first pilot to lead females to dog fight the old school way for on single engine fighters. Colonel Ingrum was his name. He escorted the first soviet bombers to Alaska. Man the stories I heard. The struggles of my great grandmother went through while he was gone. Stories of the dust bowl. How I miss them so much.

Yea the line about missed by a hair reminds me of the stories my grandpa would tell me about him and his brother in WW2. Talking about his brother was the only time I’ve seen him cry. He was sniped in the back by the German French boarder in WW2.

Troy RIP brother. Was a pleasure and a blessing to see you perform (3 weeks before the accident) and your band's excitement and enthusiasm is why I love country music. Thank you and take care watching out from above! May Montgomery Gentry be forever in my playlist.

My Grandfather escaped a father who wouldnt let him go to Junior High in Italy to come to America legally and learn a trade and put 8 kids through college. That's something to be proud of.

This song makes me think about what it means to be a parent, what it means to work hard, and how definitions of true success change as one matures. I especially love the lines, "You don't need to make a million - Just be thankful to be workin'. If you're doing what you're able, and putting food there on the table, and providing for the family that you love, that's something to be proud of."

You know, everytime I feel as if I'm not good enough as a father, husband or man in general, this song always seems to pop up. And with a tear in my eye, in reassures me that I am doing alright and no matter what I should be proud of what I've done and have become. Because I'm making an honest living and making ends meet for my family.

The enemy will tell you that you are not good enough because he knows that if he is successful, he will break up the family and reduce your ability to raise your kids up in the way they should go.

I was an 18 year old father in 1984. I raised two wonderful children and now have 3 grandchildren. (Hoping for more) in 2004, I had a major setback in my career. This song helped get me through that period. God bless MG and RIP TROY!!!!

True story: I had never heard of Montgomery Gentry until I bought tickets to go see Toby Keith in concert in Austin Texas. Montgomery Gentry opened for Toby Keith. As they starting playing and singing I said "Hey I know that song! I like it 😊! They played their second song and I recognized it from the radio also. I said" Ohhh man I really like this song 😯!! As they played their music I recognized their songs! I just didn't know who sang them. After seeing that concert I became HUGE Montgomery Gentry fans. I bought their greatest hits CD and learned their songs word for word. I went to three concerts of theirs after that and seeing the enjoyment on the audience faces were priceless. The first concert seeing Toby Kieth perform after Montgomery Gentry made one hell of a concert!! One I will never forget. I hated when Troy Gentry died in the plane crash. I really wanted to see more concerts of theirs.

These songs still have such a deep meaning to me every time I hear them I can't help but tear up a bit. Especially the part when he says, "And if all you ever really do is the best you can. Well, you did it man"

My father, grandfather, husband, and 90% of my and his family were or is in some branch of military. Very proud of this huge family have. My dad was always telling me stories and I hardly listened. My family and husband now tell me stories and you bet I listen. I miss the ones we lost and I pray for the ones safe and still enlisted.

I rescued a baby bird from my cats mouth heading towards the woods. Had an old bird carrier from our bird we had n couple years ago we found a bird nest random had put in there. Baby bird just jumped in there. I took some rope hit branch with nest first try and hoisted him up. Watched mama and daddy take turns feeding him. Made me cry thought thank you Lord ❤️ that's something to be proud of ❤️
