For all you in your teens and twenties.... You are soooo young!! If you have a dream or a desire to do something... DO IT!!! You are never too old to go back to school, get braces, learn to fly a plane, see the world....whatever it is DO IT. If you ever think "I'm too old to do this".... Well.. your not... I wish I could go back and take that leap I was afraid to do with various things in my past... but I can't. Gotta keep look forward, never back.. And remember my favorite saying " Wherever you go... there you are" BTW... Freakin LOVE this song!!!! Steve 53 yrs. young!

My mom showed me this song when I was 16 , I’m crying now at 26 because she was so right. On October 5th 2020 my life changed forever as I held her hand while she took her last breathe . She was so right I miss everything , I wish I could’ve slowed down and enjoyed my life with her more . My heart is forever broken

There is nothing that will heal that wound I despise when people say time heals all wounds. It just gets easier to smile instead of cry when you think about them. But I am 44 the person I was the closest to my grandma passed when I was 15. Every year I still go have a drink with her on her birthday. I used to smoke a cigarette for her too but I quit a few years ago which I know she'd be happy about. But I always make sure to grab one from a friend who still does and leave it there for her.

I wish everyone could hear this song. I’m 62 years old with a 40 year old daughter with two incredible grandkids. I’m a full grown man and this song will make me cry. Looking back over the years to all the people I’ve known and loved. This song contains such a lesson. You truly are gonna miss this when it’s gone. I wish I could go back in time to hug everyone of the people that I called friends. Some are gone now, most I’ll likely never see again and damn that makes me sad. Live every moment that you can. Don’t be afraid to tell people how you feel about them. If you love them, tell them. Time is a gift. Use it wisely

So incredibly ironic, your name, that is... it's my baby's name although he always hates when I call him that since he just graduated himself... he's my youngest & all of my children, the 3 of them, will always be my babies, no matter how old they are. I do miss when I was in high school, when I was a young mother, & wished I could grow up fast, which I did! Now, I'm staring at my 60's, wondering where the time went! Take it as slow as you possibly can, Justin. I know what I'm talking about.

This song came out when I was in high school. I wasn’t one of those teens who consistently said “I can’t wait to grow up,” but my mom would still sing the chorus to me at random times, especially my senior year. To this day, I can’t make it through this song without crying. And I mean, full on crying.

I'm not a fan of country, but this song hits hard. I went back home last week to take my mom to an appointment, and this song started playing. All I could think about is driving down that same country road in my mom's Silverado at 17 years-old wanting to be grown, on my own, and independent. 18 years, three kids, DD-214, and a mortgage later, I really do miss those days that went by too fast.

This song didn't hit hard until now, because next week will be my second semester of my senior year. In July I lost one of my best friends and in august 14 days before my birthday I lost my great grandfather. I live with my grandparents, grandma is 59 and grandpa is 65, I know they wont be around forever and that hurts. They have been taking care of me since i was 10 and my sister when she was just 2 weeks old. I've been through a lot of crap in my life, especially since I struggle with GAD. I struggle to differentiate between dreams and memories. Thank you for letting me vent, I really needed it

Already at 0:19 I wish I could go back and show myself how great I had it and how much of a struggle life can be as an adult. Kids think once they're 18, they're on top of the world but they (including myself) unknowingly take it all for granted. My advice as a 25 year old now, show your parents the respect they deserve and give thanks to the life they provided you. As Trace said, YOU'RE GONNA MISS THIS.

When I graduated highschool 5 years ago, I was thanking God that it was finally over. To this day, I still have dreams at night where I'm back in school, with all of my old friends, no "real" responsibilities... and then I wake up, and I remember that it's all gone. I know high school may seem hard right now, maybe annoying, maybe stressful. But the good moments that you're having there are the ones that you will remember for the rest of your life. And, eventually, you'll wish that you could go back to those days, because those happy times will never come back, no matter how hard you try to recreate them.

This song brings up the memories of ALL the people in my life who tried to tell me this exact thing when I was young enough to "know better".... it makes my eyes water cause now @ 41 I realize it was true.... now, they're gone and Its too late to tell them they were right, and I'm left missing "this". To you young bucks..... take advantage of EVERY day God gives you!

I remember as a teenager I said the samething. Oh I can't wait until I turn 18 blah blah blah....my mom said the samething. Don't count your chickens before they hatch you're gonna miss this when you're my age. Now at 36.....she died last year....SHE WAS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! I miss her wisdom and strength so much and I miss every moment I had with her especially as a kid.

I just lost my mom to cancer last Saturday, and my friend to suicide the prior week. I am devastated and I'm going to miss them a lot. I'm still in shock. The sadness is overwhelming, I am depressed, angry, confused; yet grateful to have been a daughter to a kind and loving woman, and a dear friend who lost hope. My mom was only 77, my friend was 60 and I am 59. Where did the time go? Enjoy every moment with your loved ones. Be kind to one another. God Bless everyone. My Faith remains steadfast, despite my human emotions.

Everyone says time flies by, but for me I got very lucky, time has been so slow I feel like it was forever ago I was a teenager, now I’m 33 with 2 kids and a wife. The key is to keep active, keep exploring, keep learning, and never get stuck in a rut of work home tv sleep. Complacency is what makes the time fly by.

I just came from Eric Stonestreet’s Instagram post because I had forgotten about this song and I instantly got chills and started tearing up. This song reminds me of sitting on my old best friend’s couch. She was so good to me. We were young and didn’t have jobs yet and just hung out all day and night and gabbed for hours and bonded. Fast forward about 7 years, We no longer speak. And I def do “miss this”. I miss her. I remember her singing it to me and telling me this song will always remind her of me. Now I’m just crying on the train home from work... 💔

Good luck with life, young man. Don't kill anyone you don't have to and try to have a garden/farm put together before you are too old to keep it worked and you'll do fine. Also, I think it's because we as a species used to spend huge amounts of time not thinking about the time. Now with the persistent entertainment addiction, everything including our 'relax time' is broken up into tiny segments of time that we can notice. Heck, this song was almost four minutes. I notice that because I had to look. If all I cared about was the autumns harvest and making sure I had enough apple brandy distilled to last the winter, my time would seem to last forever. I dunno where I am going with this. I hate city life blah blah blah misanthrope 4 lyfe etc. :]

This reminds me so much of what I have heard from my own children, even my mother. I never felt that way, probably because my parents were so horribly abusive. I gave my children what they call "fairytale childhood". They only realized it when they got out on their own, realized how hard life is as an adult in a cruel world.

You will never know how poignant the words to this song truly are . When I heard this song I thought about every single time I said: "when am I gonna be old enough" We tend to think life as a child is filled with "when I get older". Well fast forward to being a mother to an 18 old daughter who repeated the very words I did. We listened to this song a thousand times together, and on what would turn out to be our last Trip together before she passed away at the age 26, on October 29 2014, at her going home service it was me saying "I wish it all hadn't gone so fast". Mr Trace Adkins, this song was meant just for me.

He’s talking about the plumber not himself. I originally thought that too. He is quoting the plumber it’s a response the plumber made to the younger mom at her house. At the time of the video being made in 2007. Trace had 5-6 children. One was 6, the others were 3 and 9 from the second marriage and 24 and 22 from the first. Non even match the age of 36 or 23.

My sister got married when I was 8yr old. We're originally from MD and she moved with her husband down to Georgia and ended up having 3 kids. I'm 20 now and miss her more than anything. It's been tough because I've had to grow up without her ever since. Everytime I hear this song it makes me cry because I look back on every memory we made as kids and it's a shame because we could've made a whole lot more memories as we got older. The message I want to convey is that you need to appreciate every little thing that is in your life right now at this very moment, because one day you'll look back and really miss it and always wonder what could've been...

Am a fairly recent empty nester, kids are in college, house is empty without their noise and lives, I miss traveling to soccer tournaments, Karate tournaments and long roadtrips with the family. They have their own lives now, I think there is time for one more big trip before grand kids.....but I would go back in a heartbeat and do it all again, great times!

My little sister is 18 this year. She's the only girl and no one wanted to play tea party when she was 5. I did. How can I not miss that? She was so happy

This made me smile bc I was the middle child so I had an older sister and older brother and I would have given anything for my older sister to want to spend time with me and play dolls or something so I tried to play with my little sister as much as I could well when I didn't want to kill her lol

Never has the words of a song ever struck my heart and soul so very true... I'm a grandparent now, and I often find myself thinking to myself, "what happened? When did they grow up and I grow old? Seems like just a few months ago mine were young, and now they have young of their own...."

Every time I come back to this song, I find myself crying bittersweet tears for and entirely different reason then the last time....I try to remind myself in the worst times that one day this will be a memory and to look for the good in every situation.

I was about 13 when this song came out and I’m about to be 29. If you’re discovering this song, take it from me. It doesn’t slow down, so make the most of every day.

This song is so true I'm 17 and filling out collage applications and I can tell my mom and dad want it to slow down to. I know I do my dad is reaching 50 and I want time to slow down. I'm not ready to be an adult yet and it's right there around the corner....
