Raced there many times in GPL and also the WSC mod in AC which is a hoot. Walked the circuit some years ago while visiting the city and spectating at X-games. Seeing the hump and T1 up close you can only imagine the commitment the drivers of the day had to have. Best period of F1 no question.

Piers Courage. The driver who had the courage to do anything. And also, one of the greatest drivers who never won a Grand Prix. Something that should have and could have happened at the 1969 Monaco and United States GP's when he came 2nd both times. :)

Did you know about Courages miracles at the international trophy in 1970? He had missed qualifying because of his sportscar contract with Alfa Romeo. Still he was allowed to start this two heat race from the back of the grid and finished third overall. To make things more complicated, the organizers started the second heat in qualifying order, so Courage had to overtake many drivers twice!

@@SteffenT1981 The 1970 British Racing Drivers Club International Trophy. Or the 1970 BRDC International Trophy for short. Held on April 26 1970. This track is just incredible. So flowing, so dangerous, two completely different halves, packaged in just 3.8 km length. To me the best street circuit of all time, too bad we'll never see it again. I'm desperately hoping that there'll be a high quality version for AMS2 at some point (with the other sims I don't think it's gonna happen).

This is still my favorite mod. The DeTomaso team was run by Frank Williams and the car was the first F1 car designed by Dallara. The track was criticised as extremely dangerous but Generalissimo Franco was still in power and do what he says or you would get shot. I wish RSS would make a 70s F5000 model based off the Lola T332, which had a run from 1974 right through to 80s Can am.

So, Who should Franco shoot if F1 was not interested in coming to Spain? Andrews, De Merode?

One of the usual exam routes for driving license here! Always loved those streets. There's only an extra roundabout on the last corner before the "straight", otherwise the streets are literally the same in width and profile!

For real I am watching this 1 hour before the 2024 F1 Qatar GP and I think this might be more entertaining. Edit after the Qatar GP, I WAS SO WRONG, IT WAS PEAK SHITHOUSERY, but nonetheless, this vid was very entertaining.

An awesome event very entertaining, you were almost sticking out your tongue having so much fun 😋 I raced the 67 cars emulating the NC race here, I think with a Matra, and the F1 cars didn't have that much of an advantage, it was sooo much fun, don't even remember how I placed but I finished the race driving with keyboard with manual shifting... felt like a pianist after that lol I will definitely buy this car set and give it a go, thank you, Cheers!!

Great races, Richie. I guess that at La Pérgola you should be more suave with the trottle, both lifting and pushing, so you carry mor speed.

Excellent races. I was so invested in watching your progress and your respective strengths and weaknesses versus your rivals. Shelly's pass on you and Graeme at the start of race two was stunning. I'm so gutted that you ran out of fuel a couple of hundred metres short of the finish and lost the podium - it just shows how competitive that race was and how good the top drivers were. Watching your skill levels running these 1970 F1 cars without TC and ABS, lap after lap, going wheel to wheel CLEANLY was an awesome spectacle. One question: in the races, I didn't see the other cars lift their noses over the crest braking into turn one like yours does. Was it simply your front wing setting?
