This is on our list for the next addition to our equipment lineup. We are a small family renovations business, and for the past 3 years or so, my sons and I have been subbing out a lot of the tile work. Unfortunately we are continuing to see a degradation in quality from those in our line of work. After the past few weeks Ive just decided that its time that we take complete control over our finished product. Ive always believed in having the right tool for the job. Previously we have used wet saws, but there are some issues with those as well. Looks like this is the cutter that will perform well for our application

After tirelessly researching all the top companies for months on end, I've finally decided to switch from Sigma to Montolit. Everything about your range of dry/wet cutters is just so impressive/simple. I've had my Sigma cutters for around 15 years and they've been great but Montolit have taken things to the next level, no question. I'm 50 and in pretty good shape and making the change now to Montolit, I reckon I can stay in the game for another 20 years. I'm based in the Uk so do I contact you guys directly in Italy or through an agent here? Thank you Giuseppe for your presentations. Keep them coming👍! Cheers Gabor

Wow, very nice cutter. Maybe it just shows better, but I'd sure like to see other cuts demoed besides half and half. A more impressive cut for me would be a 3/8" off a 12" x 24" tile. Does it just not work for that? With the glass mosaic what is the smallest cut?

I'm sure it's me, but I haven't got the technique down to consistently rip a 1" piece off a 6" wide x 36" plank tile that has a rough grainy texture to imitate scraped and worn wood flooring. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate the input. As far as I can tell, I am doing things the same as the demonstrator except that the cutter is on the floor and the tile is not smooth at all.

So one important thing for all tile cutters you have to be smooth when you cut and fast I hope you understand what I mean so no pressure and when you break give it hard and quick so you will have this technique with the time
@lmandrakepoe
@lmandrakepoe 2 жыл бұрын
@@MontolitTilingTools Thank you, but what I notice is that you are snapping off ever decreasing pieces--first a half, then a half of that so that each snap is cutting a tile in half, until you get down to that very thin piece. That is terrific, but what I was trying to do was get a clean cut on a 48" plank tile that brought the width from 6" to 5". The plank tile was imitating wood, so it was not a smooth texture. It had faux grain running through it so that the score I made was never a solid line. Maybe this was a limitation I didn't expect, and I certainly didn't succeed at that particular use of the machine.

It is not as easy as he does it in the video, on Italy made porcelain 80x80 (CERCOM), I managed to cut properly only 5 out of 10 times! I made the groove a few times to make sure I was making a proper one, yet the wheel didn't scratch the tile enough on small sections (I guess) and the splitting didn't go along the groove (I used the lubricant)... Damn, hopefully tomorrow I'll have better luck...

@@MontolitTilingTools Thank You, I have got the hang of it, now I can do the same as illustrated. for newcomers here is what I have learnt: 1.) Don't be too gentle, if you don't see chips along the groove it means that the splitting may leave the groove. 2.) Don't use to much pressure if you do you may split the tile during the grooving proses and if you don't the splitting will not be smooth. 3.) some rectified tiles just wont split! - don't force splitting!!! It will not work! If you hold the handle down with one hand and give the edge of the handle a few taps with your second hands' palm and nothing happens - move to the grinder. Twice I had such a tile where even after 1mm grove with a grinder the tile will still not split in the machine! - So I made the grove half way and used a hammer for splitting - same as with traditional glass cutting along the edge of a table. The hardness of the tiles may simply be inconsistent. Good Luck!

This worked great for redoing the shower/bathtub of my kid's bathroom. kzbin.infoUgkxfiuHoZJo3bgdVPFRxQ-iqPpfbEHl2cYt I didn't like the guide, so I took it off. I just used a fine tipped sharpie on the tile and followed that line. It does make a wet mess, and once I started looking like I wet myself I started wearing a towel and apron while cutting. The blade it came with worked great until we wore it out. It was better than the replacement one we bought. I tried looking for just their blade, but failed. Not really for larger tiles unless you stack stuff on either side to support the tiles. Anyway, would definitley buy again.
