They keep saying they "want" to build affordable housing....still nothing happens !!!!!
@DonaldMainsАй бұрын
you can't build new construction and make it affordable and make a profit. Land costs, permitting and taxes make even the most modest housing too expensive to be affordable to the lower income. If government builds affordable housing it is only taking from one person and giving to another. the solution is to let the market build quicker with less government interference. Older housing stock will be the new affordable housing. This isn't a Quebec issue, this is a national and international issue. Nobody has figured out a way to make affordable, market based new housing.

@@DonaldMains This city and many others have intentionally doubled the value of homes in order to ask for more taxes, in turn, making owners to double the rents in order to pay there mortgages, building supplies have gone up because of huge taxes slapped on companies, all by the governments, it's a snowball effect, life has become unsustainable....are you for real? or just in a coma?
@peg60606Ай бұрын
Your prices are cheap compared to Sydney Australia. Here it's about $800 a week, or 3500 a month for a 2 bedroom apt - if you're the lucky applicant. Same problem here with unsustainable immigration.

She wants to make Montreal beautiful which is great but the taxes gouges are destroying small businesses and the constant simultaneous road construction make getting around with vehicle annoying and not enjoyable, housing, apartment prices are rising high up and no cap on it, too many bicycle roads being put in streets making the small roads smaller, too many radars, She needs to fix, cut back and dismantle some of these things because it's getting ridiculous.

Maybe if you ding a hole to repair pipes put 100 guys on it and bang out the job in weeks/months instead of 6 guys working for 2 years on a hole. States do 24 hour shifts bang out problems in weeks. Here in Montreal it takes years the same hole. It is joke. The poor business in these areas.

Lol, this mayor of Montreal Valerie Plante is just like mayor of Toronto Olivia Chow the same. Lol, both city and all talks, no action plan!🤦🤦🤦

I realise that Valérie really doe's the impossible to keep alive our city. I was tough on her, but I also feel less safe in my city and the price keep going higher then ever, I would like to stay but, I really think I won't be able to stay unfortunaly.
@Steve_19692 ай бұрын
you are delusional, she is the worst mayor since Coderre, spends super amounts of money, raises taxes and does nothing !
@polishthedayАй бұрын
Why would you feel less safe? Whenever I hear this from someone, I’ve never been able to get an adequate answer as to why. I’ve been here over a decade now and consider Montreal the safest city in Canada, and they’re all really safe compared to most in the world. The only fear I have walking around late at night is almost tripping over a raccoon or coming home to find a skunk sitting on my front steps. Both have happened.

I actually really like our mayor. She’s doing great with the cards she’s dealt with and you can feel how much she loves, cares for and wants to improve our city. Great interview!

I think that the CAQ is starving Montreal - they padty distrusts our diversity and think we are out to get them and not speak French. l Valerie is doing the best she can with the disentest and actually contempt that I feel from quebec city. I think she is super brave to want to keep trying for us. She really does get it. Montreal NEEDS MONEY And when people left when levesque came in inthe '70's, there went our tax base.

Was expecting you all to press her more, quite disappointed. The feasibility of her ambitions are not rooted in reality. Her repeated stance on “for me it’s a no brainer” is an awful rational for a political leader. Valerie Plante’s ideas are perfect for a village or a small town, not for a large metropolitan city like Montreal.
