That was cool, best channel about Montreal for sure.

Until the Victoria bridge was built Quebec City surpassed Montreal in terms of population. But after it's completion in 1859 trains no longer had to go through Quebec City and Montreal underwent a major industrial boom afterwards which had already started with the widening of the Lachine Canal in 1848.

Yes! Although Montreal surpassed Quebec City in the 1810s actually. Once the Lachine Canal opened in 1825 and later Victoria in 1859, the gap widened.

@@DiscoverMontréal You are right Chris, the population of Montreal had indeed become larger almost 50 years before the opening of the Victoria bridge. As an indication in 1851 the population of Montreal was 57 715 while Quebec City was 42 052. And the year the bridge was inaugurated (1860) the population of Montreal had already passed the 100 000 mark. It had almost doubled in less than 10 years.

Scariest bridge in Montreal

If you think it’s scary now, there used to be only one span for cars and traffic was two-way!

Are there any cities in North America, other than maybe New York, that can have endless amazing videos made about it like Montreal?

Not to say anything bad about Montreal but yes! Boston, San Francisco, Baton Rouge to name just a few.

I have always thought that this bridge was a bit more scary to cross then the others... They should replace it with a new one, like they did with the Champlain bridge!
