I am 49 and a musician and it can be easy to think we have lost live playing and become old and bitter. Absolutely not. This guy is an unbelievable, along with Jacob Collier and many other classy, relevant and talented people. So impressive and amazing to see young audiences totally into it. Dirty Loops, Vulfpeck etc - so much better than the norm and the so called charts.

I just can't believe I'm seeing another version of this. I had the privilege to see Tom live in New York when he played this song and it was awesome! Such a lucky audience to see him and FKJ together!

If you consider seeing him live a privilege you sure as hell will be BLOWN away by Jordan Rakei. Whole nother level. I was seriously underwhelmed by Tom and his band when I saw them.

As a soundman... This happens countless times during a performance. As does countless small mistakes the performers themselves make. At one point the mic was not unmuted at the right moment (we miss 2-3 notes) which gave him the impression his monitoring wasn’t right, threw him out of balance and he had to wait a few secs to get back into it. Not unmuting the channel at the right moment was a rather big mistake on a stage like this. They should’ve off provided a wireless mic with a switch and let the performer wether to leave it on always or leave it to them to turn it on or off (at this level I would trust that although it is rather unnecessary). So yeah. Soundman fucked up a bit but I feel them!!

Stoked to see that FKJ collaborate as a saxophonist with other young great. Truly a pure, raw monster. Might be the best jazz horn player pf his generation. Yet I believe many jazzmen might put him aside because of the way he produces and remix which is not in the jazz tradition at all. I think it’s a shame. This man should be featured on the sax for such acts as Snarky Puppy, Herbie Hancock’s bands, Chris Dave trio and other top of the crop live jazz and neo-soul acts. I wouldn’t care wether he can read or not or what have you. I like his music, and his voice - but man : Birdy is approving this from his graveyard!
