This is a very complimentary pairing of vocal timbres. The Caballe recording I am more familiar with is Verrett as Adalgisa. I never thought their voices meshed well. The core in the voices of these ladies here seem to synch much more.

giusto, sei un Grande ! prima di parlare la Caballé doveva riflettere un po' sul fatto chi era il compositore di questo capolavoro ... una donna tradita non perdona mai ! la prova ? il finale della Norma . nella musica divina di Bellini non c'è posto per i personaggi ''falsi'' ! nella Norma tutti personaggi sono veri ! il più importante è cosa senti tu e non cosa dice la Caballé. il pubblico come te non sbaglia mai ! questa è la mia modesta opinione .

Vincenzo Bellini = fenomeno . leggi il finale del tuo commento d'un giorno fa e così puoi avere la risposta giusta, sei Grande ! nella musica divina di Vincenzo Bellini non c'è posto per i personaggi viziosi e falsi. la Caballe aveva un'immaginazione ''infinita'' per tantissime cose nella sua vita e credeva che tutti sono come lei ... la sua grandezza artistica sempre rimaneva sul palco... fuori teatro era un'altra persona ... lascia perdere .

I would classify the Calla/Stignani and Caballé/Cossoto on a same level for different reasons, but eliminate Sutherland who could sing the telephone directory at the top of her lungs, but for artistic level and emotion, that's another story.....

Una classifica da bar dello sport...Sutherland ha lo spessore vocale ma è la regina del farfuglio, non si capisce una sillaba...la Caballé è una Norma elegiaca... Norma è una grande sacerdotessa druidica... bisogna avere presente i ruoli oltre alle voci... Callas e Stignani o Callas e Simionato avevavo la tensione, il colore e la statura vocale per questo ruolo... E questa è l'idea dei critici internazionali, poi ognuno è esperto di quel che lo soddisfa

Cossotto had lost a tiny smidgen of her power but could still manage to overpower lesser mortals. She tried to outsing Caballe particularly on the last note but by this time in her career, Caballe has already developed an almost Wagnerian top. Not today, Cossotto....not today.

I strongly dislike when somebody says, so and so tried to out-sing so and so. These 2 great wonders were just doing their prospective roles to their greatest ability. To them it wasn’t about trying to out do each other. They genuinely liked working together! True professionals do not carry on like that! Get a grip!

Not at all. The key is in Eflat so both notes are wrong. In fact, they are both singing Bflat which is the dominant of the key of Eb. The problem is Cossotto is slightly flat, which happened to her often. However, they still sound marvelous together!
