Could you show one specific part where he plays notoriously differently to Mangini? I cannot remember the og version so well that I could hear where this man differs from it, even though I have listened to it many many times. I'm just curious to find some of the differences and it would be easier to start if someone pointed a clear difference in some part. Thanks.

The fact that this guy has 18.6K subscribers instead of 18.6M is beyond me. Absolutely unbelievable playing, and to learn this song so quickly. Just unreal.

same, makes no sense. although this is my little pooint of view on the topic of this type of "elite" music. it was only meant for a select few to be played and enjoyed by. doesnt make t the most widely available/appreciated things people gonna get. still should be more well know. the grammy helps. but they are still the metal music nerds you knew in high school, just taken to the en'th degree. fair?

I reckon he'd be 80% there after a single listen. He's been listening and playing dream theater and the like for years. It sounds big, long, epic and bloody mental to you and I. Breaks it down to sections, many of which are as easy as breathing, then focus on the few challenging parts. He'd probably spend only a few hours to learn it, few more to record, few more to mix. He's a pro.
@jd08793 жыл бұрын
It’s not like he’s a hobbyist one year drummer. He’s been playing for decades with Dream Theater being his main influence, takes his significantly less time to learn it than you and I
@Bingusman2 жыл бұрын
Well, just looking at his drum and play style you can tell it’s a big DT fan, specially Portnoy fan. He’s been uploading almost every DT song, so, he probably heard the new album like 20 times as soon as it was available lol I do the same honestly but I don’t record myself playing drums. Also, the Portnoy style is really dominant here, he could have just named the video AVFTTOTW but with young Portnoy double lol
@bassedtaz3 жыл бұрын
Fukn love that fill at the end of the interlude. Its simple, but the best things always are. What gives it the x factor is that it starts on the hats. Very common to have hats/cymbal hits within fills, but they're usually either maintaining the groove, or accenting. But here they are the actual fill. Very minor distinction I'm making I know, I'm not really a drummer but I pay very close attention to their work. Drummers may correct me or explain better. 11:00

Well played my friend, technically you are from the top league, I am drummer myself so i can tell when someone is playing outstandingly well, and you are one of these people, but sometimes I think that there is happening too much on the drums, some parts are really dense and full of fills and chops, but that is only my humble opinion, still you are an amazing drummer, and as a fan of Portnoy myself, you are really kepping his spirit in your play, well done🎉❤

If somehow Mangini had to leave the band, and Portnoy was not coming back, you would absolutely be my pick to be their drummer. You always absolutely nail everything DT and you have a great style that blends Portnoy's and Mangini's play style so fluently while giving it your own flare. From a fellow drummer, keep it up, brother! You're an inspiration to me and I am sure many others!
