The final gag is sooo far ahead of its time: an AI-powered psychiatrist computer, trained on faulty data, hovering from a drone, getting blown up by a nurse with a rocket launcher. This sketch is from **1974.** 🤯

It was also during the final years of Vietnam, when computers, drones and other such 'new tech' were becoming mainstays. The Python team likely took notes and realized the probable progression from there, though they still deserve accolades for being able to predict what stuff like ChatGPT is now proving capable of (to a degree at least).

"Ah, so it's all about sex, is it?" Ladies and Gentleman, Dr. Freud meets Hamlet. (Interesting though how they identified them all as "bogus psychiatrists".) Brilliant!

Freud loved Hamlet, he mentions it at least once IIRC. Shakespeare basically invented the modern mind in that play, and Freud understood that. He gets a bad rap but he's not just "sex sex oedipus phallus sex", he was a very literate and cultured person, and a great writer to boot.

With the right teacher, Hamlet is absolutely incredible. There is tragedy, humor, horror, love, revenge, action, and a hilarious crazy prince. What is not to love? /:) It is all about have the right context and experience.

Sir, I will not argue this point due to the fact that you are such a leader in the world of literature. You obviously must be one in order to dictate the literary canon. I can see why you are studying and most certainly not on KZbin. You are totally right about the Lion King too, man. I have no doubt that a Disney movie is better than a timeless work by the greatest inventor of our language.

Yes and no, I am currently studying Hamlet and I find that if you don't pay attention to what they're saying and whos saying it, you can read three lines and have no idea what's up. Its not a matter of stupidity or laziness, its a matter of patience and with todays immidiate gratification, many people have trouble with taking the time to sit down and really think about what your reading and taking in.

Now just wait one minute, just because you like Shakespeare does not mean the rest of the world likes Shakespeare. Where is the fucking rule book that says in order to appreciate art you must appreciate Shakespeare? Art changes with each generation. Oedipus Medea Hamlet John Proctor Michael Corleone Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader What do these characters have in common? Tragedy, these characters are the same person only different name and face. You have Hamlet I have The Godfather.

@MrBandBProductions: I appreciate the contribution that Hamlet made to acting/entertainment field. However, it is very outdated. Let me give you this analogy: I can appreciate what the first ever telephone did for the world. Without the first ever telephone we wouldn't have the modern communication easiness that we have today. But, do we still use old style telephones? No! Every thing eventually progresses and becomes better. Hamlet and other theatrical productions are no different.

They made me read Romeo and Juliet and I got to tell you I would rather read it than watch it, from my perspective what has really driven me nuts about Shakespeare's works was the language at the time you understand for instants thou, hither, thee, thy and whencefore I understand it was a major thing at the time but in my opinion it just sounds ridiculous to me but don't mistake me for one of those people that is into the half-ass slang English most people are using today.
