The uncomplicated name-calling interaction in Monty Python can get one in trouble as a non-native English language learner... I think "bastard" should be used all the time, for example, I see no reason against it (if there is any cause at all, that is). But I think that particular one is mostly due to Cleese.

Why oh Why are we not brave enough to produce such timeless comedy as this. Political Correctness would not allow the majority of the classic sketches, with many sensitive issues a no go area. Thank goodness i was brought up in the 1970s, when British comedy was at its best.
@johntoth91508 жыл бұрын
Well said! Me too. Howevers it is funny to study the differencies. Before the world war - Chaplin, Marx. Then this and After 1990 until now. Seinfeld. Or less sophisticated Benny Hill and Jackass. The boom of Stand up comedy. Black comedy with Chappelle, Pryor and Chris Rock. Eddie Izzard and Amy Shumer. What is modern comedy? Ricky Gervais? Ben Stiller? And Carrey coming from nowhere. Aubrey Plaza and SethRogen. For a weird nice film I'd recommend A New York love affair with the elite of stand up comedy. Funny on so many levels. And just one more glance at the olden days - Fletch with Chevy Chase... Moahaha!!! :-)

But being the extraordinarily nice chaps we are, we've figured a better way to get our own back: We've launched our own Monty Python channel on KZbin.
