Oh boy! I remember watching this first time around. Any number of towns and cities had individually banned cinemas from showing it, but our central town (where the major market was held, etc. About 10k population at the time I guess) which per capita would probably have come out as far more religious than the two major cities either side of it, just shrugged and said that no one was being forced to go watch it, if you don't like the sound of it, don't go. One of the city councils banned it, and a few neighbouring market towns had also done so. I was really proud of the council for the first - and, it turned out, only - time for doing that. So this near decade-long (by then) church chorister went with a bunch of friends from the county youth orchestra and laughed myself sick! I found nothing offensive in it in the slightest, only very funny and beautifully on point when it came to religious hypocrisy. I wasn't the only one there who thought that way by a long shot. The really big, one-screen cinema was packed out (it was old-fashioned with "the gods" alone holding a few hundred seats. There wasn't such thing as a multi-screen cinema back then, at least not that I was aware of them existing). IIRC we had to queue for a good hour to be able to get into the evening showing - I guess a lot of people came from those narrow-minded towns - despite them showing it virtually nonstop with gaps only long enough to pack the cinema again and give the projectionist a break! It was worth every second of that wait. Since then I have seen it often and got my kids to watch it as teens, partially for the exquisite humour, but also as a warning regarding political and religious hypocrisy and bigotry, and a lesson in how not to get caught up in cults or cult-like organizations. As none of them have as yet (and the "baby" is now 26. God that's depressing lol), I reckon it worked! If you get the chance to watch this alongside other intelligent, open-minded folks, rather than being screened to your TV, I thoroughly recommend you do so. I hope it's a rip roaring success - again!

There needs to be more of this the comedy it is so well struck at the moments it needs to be where others are chaotic and unfathomably stupid but that's what makes them Monty python that's what makes their comedy actually funny I watched their movies for the first time a few months ago and these have to be some of the funniest movies I've ever seen in my life we must have a another Monty python movie in a more modern setting it would be so funny with the same comedy and style of the originals and hyped more worldwide so everyone can see and share these amazing comedic moments
