It is Palin's frantic, stuttering, thinking-faster-than-he-can-talk personality that makes this one of the funniest sketches of all time. The way he keeps re-starting his list of Spanish Inquisition characteristics, each time adding a new attribute, is hilarious. It is also IMO something only Michael Palin could deliver. Palin, Chapman and Idle have always been my favorites from the show. If I had to pick one over the others, I'd probably go with Palin. I'm sure other fans have their favorites and that's OK. But Palin is, well, Palin. There will never be another. I love him!!!! I always thought it an on stage accident when the rack fell down, turning 90 degrees clockwise as they first attached it to Carol. It certainly would have fit her best had it remained in position as installed at 3:26 ;-)
