Life of Brian was at the time of Jesus, in roman occupied Israel. Or what is now Israel. Holy grail is a mythical Britonic (the people who originally occupied Britain. The extent to which they do today, after a number of invasions, is debatable) king called Arthur, who may or may not have existed, in his search for the holy grail, with his knights Gallahad, Robin etc... Meaning of life was basically a series of sketches, with a kind of narrative , going from basically the cradle to the grave. There was one other movie called "...and now for something completely different". Which just WAS a series of sketches. The TV basically made feature length.

If the Monty Python crew were still in action today - and had, quite naturally, become a bit lazier in old age - some of their skits would start with "And now for something completely different" and then cut to a Brad & Lucy video. Cleese: "Well, I can't write anything better than that." Palin: "Neither can I." Idle: "Do you think they'll mind?" Gilliam: "We've got lumps of it in the back." The Deceased Ones: "Oooo. OOOOOooooo. OOOOOOOOOO!" Cleese: "Now stop that. You're not scaring anyone you know. You have ceased to be. You are ex-Pythons. You're pushing up the daisies and joined the choir invisible etcetera and all that. Bugger off." The Deceased Ones: "Oh.....do we still get royalties?"

My favourite scene, from the holy grail (?), is when the king returns from the crusades to find tat his castle is being towed and reposessed due to defaulting on morguage repayments and THEN as the castle is rolled away on tree logs a man is seen to be sitting on the toilet reading. Upon inspection it is discovered that man is blind but is 'reading' a Playboy magazine that has the nude centrefold in Braille. F'ing hilarious to me. Classic.
