Monument Valley Explained

Princess Ida is the princess of the bird people. Birds, especially crows and ravens, are historically known as tricksters and thieves. The bird people stole the sacred geometry from the valley of men and because they arrogantly based their entire society around it's magic they crumbled and fell to ruin. As punishment for her thievery she was cursed into a human form and her people turned into flightless crows who could do nothing but wander the straight paths in front of them. Princess Ida came back after centuries to return the sacred geometry she stole, but the men had all died and there was no one left to forgive what she had done.

@Samuel Lima one of the lines in the game is “there is no one left to forgive us” because the ghost tells you all the men from the monuments are already dead and you can also see this in the room with all the graves

I believe that Ida the bird princess, fell in love with geometry, so in love that she stole the geometric shapes from the valley. with out them the valley went bad and caused the men die (I don't know how). for punishment the men turned Her people into crows and her into the form we see her for most of the game. making her people forget her and making her forget herself. Now she has come on a quest for forgiveness

I think that's a great theory. However, I think that her "quest for forgiveness" is for the people who stole the geometry, not her, and the informational dude with the weird hat called her "thieving princess" because she looked like her ancestor, the first princess, who "stole" the geometry away from the men and turned them into crows as punishment for actually trying to steal it.

justafan17 i think that considering that she is said to be thief by mistake + people are punished for a mistake SHE did really kills the wisdom of monument valley. Because these two things show a very unharmonious and unfair world, whereas monument valley strives to show a very wise world + your theory gives to the bluequeen a bad name, like she could just accuse someone because he looks like someone else who is gulty , that doesnt make sens because the bluequeen character has a place of wisdom guidance and lucidity in the game , its a character who speaks a mysterious truth, not an idiot who accuses people because they belong to a group or because they have a "guilty look" . I think u just transposed other scenarios in this one, but monument valley is a revolution, i didnt steel a zelda or other classic scenarios , it has its own, and thinkin u can interpret it like if it was an old scenario of your references make you miss the point, and end up with very unharmonious explanation

karim mili in the 9th chapter you can see the imagery of her bird form flying away with the geometric object, and also in the same area, you can see her in her crying if in sorrow 'I'm guessing directly after being turned'. The crow people might not be her people but a manifestation of her. Also, In my eye, I saw the "blue queen" as a ghost of one of the valley men. As you can see her putting a flower on his grave, in respect to him and the others, with the sub text "there is no one left to forgive" "this was the valley of men" "long have these old bones waited in darkness". The men's actions might have came from a place of wisdom and not just for "punishment", maybe to teach her a lesson or help her find her true self after going mad over the shapes. Maybe behind the story as a whole, there is the true metaphorical meaning. That you delightfuly explained

Not exactly: ida, the princess, was the one who stole the sacred geometry from the monuments. Therefore she and her people were cursed: she turned human, and her subjects became colorless crows who didn’t recognize her and interrupted her path. Only after all geometry was brought back, the curse was removed by the ghosts of the ones who used to create and protect the geometry (as seen in monument valley 2).

There is no difference between her and the crows , there is no hierarchy , this is not your WC time game app with an "as usual" scenario : sacred king vs thief, good and bad people , et stolen stuff and a hero to bring them back. we can see at one point clearly that the black crow IS ida , and at a further stage we can see the black cow turning into white, to defintely put us on the tracks of the real story . The first time we control a black cow, we understand that its nothign but ida's inner journey , because the çnly thing we can control is ida's inner characters : her avatar, the crow, and the totem (yellow) . Idem herself is told "foolish princess" because she forgot herself , as told her the bluequeen who was the first one to invite us to think clearly that ida is as,responsible as the crows, that the crows are nothing but idas inner demons. This is ida understanding who she is , understanding that the ennemy she sees is nothing but her ignorance, and learning how things work , she's been able to find the good harmony between the world and her innerself .

i guess we'll need to mix it with yours so it makes real sens =) i noticed that all the gifts idas gives to end a level, she gives it from her hat , BUT ONE , when she goes down to the graves , she gives a present not from her hat : the flower she gives it from her heart . maybe that an extra piece to the puzzle , about forgiveness , true gift, sincerity , or maybe in such rich mirros anyone only see what he needs to see ^^ here youll find another piece for the puzzle , one of the creator of the game talked about the meaning : www.polygon.com/2014/1/1/5262086/monument-valley-and-the-art-of-visual-trickery

This is why I kinda find the sequel (or prequel) a tad bit underwhelming. Don’t get me wrong it’s brilliant, but the story is much less thought-provoking and simply not as good :/

Sofia Grace Nadela Not so sure tbh, But I think that the "woman" thought that ida was the thief that stole the geometry, it has some major flaws, Like for example, on chapter 2, The woman said Silent, Then theives? Then foolish? And so on and on chapter nine I think, She didnt even call Ida "princess" not too sure about that woman

Blaze xD Go to Monument Valley ( make sure its not Monument Valley 2 which is the sequel to the game ), then click the add button which appears to be like this 《+》 and you can see Forgotten Shores in the list. In the forgotten shores you can see eight more magical chapters and one of them might be the chapters/appendix where the ghost ( the woman who speaks with Ida ) says that Ida confuses past,present,and future.Actually one of the informations in Google says that Ida must return all the sacred Geometry she previosly stole ( so thats why the ghost a.k.a the woman described Ida as Thieving Princess ) in order to be forgiven.As you know in the ending of Monument Valley ( after the 10th chapter ) you see Ida has been forgiven together with the crow people and Ida had her true form ( crow form ) back but in the new eight chapters in Forgotten shores,Ida is not in her true form so she is back to her Human form in Forgotten shores.

They're saying that God needs to apologize but needs someone else to do it and take His place. Saved Christians shouldn't play this game; no one should. God didn't do anything wrong but He has made it right for us anyway. He came down to earth in the flesh to sacrifice himself for us and has concurred the grave for us. Now we can rein with him, God, in Heaven if we accept and trust in His Salvation and confess and receive it in the name of Jesus Christ.
