I really enjoyed this video. Nothing like getting out on the battlefield. 🙂

Tim Smith is just an awesome man to listen to on KZbin and in person, which I had the privilege at Evergreen.

Yes Tim taking the high ground is alway the most difficult and dangerous. Thank you for your video on Little Round Top. 💯❤️👍

Excellent. You hit all the reasons why I like to see a snow covered terrain while studying a battlefield. The trick is to hit a milder day when you are not freezing to be outdoors.

Last Wednesday, January 8, I was on LRT around 1pm and, like Tim said, nobody else was there. I was alone for over 15 minutes. Prior to this I had climbed BRT for the first time ever. Thank you, Tim, for Monument Mondays videos, they have me looking forward to Mondays for the first time in my life!

Another great video, particularly Tim's comment on the length and the staffing of the Confederate and Union lines.

I agree 💯, winter is the best time to really see the battlefield. It’s my favorite time of the year to visit.

In early November 1963, 100 years after the great clash, a friend and I visited the battlefield of Gettysburg. I recall how few people were there at the time.

I remember being there in 1995 in the dead of winter and Plum Run was frozen over but what I remember most was the interesting acoustics in that valley.

A few years back I was doing some research on the Gettysburg Harrisburg Railroad, and in the Hancock Ave-Round Tops area, the remains of the rail line are impossible to sight in the summer; in winter, though, with the brush down, it's a lot easier to find and even hike along the old railbed. Like the terrain Tim mentioned: easier to discern in winter when there's no undergrowth. (OR ticks.)

I have always wanted to visit the battlefield when it is snow covered. I remember about 15 years ago there was a big snow in Gettysburg and it was covered extensively on Gettysburg Daily. Would love to see it like that some time. Thanks, Tim.

A group of us from England visited in February 2003, the Presidents Storm. Everything shut down for 4 days. We walked parts of the battlefield that nearly waist deep in snow, it was awesome. 😊

@@peterholt2381 That would be big fun as long as the pubs are still open. Need a hot toddy after a day of plowing around in the snow.

Thanks for showing us how the terrain was. Have you ever come across any relics when you were out there in the winter? Ed from Lynchburg

I feel the confederates still had the advantage. Because Lee was the aggressor while Meade only reacted. Which is why it took 3 days for the Union to prevail despite their numbers and terrain advantages.
