This product is severely underrated. I have mine paired with a Line 6 HX Effects and a Two Notes Torpedo CAB M+, and honestly it’s the most versatile rig I’ve ever owned. The amps in the Mooer are really responsive and a couple favorites which are the PLX 100 (1959 SL100) and Custom 100 (a boutique Plexi clone) will actually reproduce the light picking almost clean to a roaring gain on hard picking. Really dynamic feel. It’s the pairing of the Line 6 HX Effects and Torpedo CAB M that really bring this thing to life though. If it wasn’t the base sounds and feel of the amps in the Preamp Live being so good, it wouldn’t work the same. There are over 100 amps now with latest update and the boost options are amazing. It also does IR Loading and power tube emulation that’s pretty good although I prefer the options in the Torpedo for the power amp tube emulation and final power amp stage, but if I didn’t have the torpedo, the built in ones would definitely be used. The Shitcow model is pretty amazing (VHT Pitbull model) and the Suhr Badger model are great and so is the Friedman models. They are all great. Really underrated piece of gear. Worth the $400 price tag for a versatile preamp with reactive feel. It’s like having the whole collection of Micro preamps but with more (Mooer?) options. 12 models at a time is a little limiting, but you can save out your favorites and swap them out with any of the 100+ models. The boost models are pretty great variety and clean boosts are actually clean. Anyway, great job Mooer. I just don’t know why this hasn’t taken off as a companion to HX Effects or a Boss MS3 type companion. The Line 6 HX Effects has midi and can switch programs on the Preamp Live easily and program it into your Line 6 HX Effects presets. Midi out from HX Effects to midi in on Preamp Live and setup all your programs. Offers separate program numbers for regular or boost variations. I haven’t even tried the capture yet but will if I ever get some real amps I want to capture.

Hey man I have a very specific question. I hope you can help me out. Cant seem to find that answer anywhere. I am trying to set up a completely portable live rig ONLY in the form of a pedal board with Line6 HX Effects (for all pedals) and the Mooer preamp live (for amp and cab sims) along with a couple of expression pedals hooked up to the Line6 HX Effects. No physical amps or even cabs. My question is, in a live setting would I need to add a portable power amp to the signal chain? (Something like a Mooer baby bomb or Harley Benton GPA-100 or the Seymour Duncan power amp series) Is it necessary? And if it is, where should it be in the signal chain in context to what I wrote above? I’m unable to find this information. I want the Mooer preamp live to be at the end of my signal chain so I’m able to send the XLR out to front of house. Will the “boost” or the power amp simulation mode of the Mooer preamp live suffice for a powerful live sound? Please advice!

Also, would be kind enough to share your signal chain, how are you distributing power across the pedalboard and any other tips etc? I would greatly appreciate it
@vondragonnoggin3 жыл бұрын
@@adityabali1939 If I were looking to do something like you are talking about, you should setup the Mooer Preamp Live with HXFX in 4CM by running a chain like this: Guitar > input of HXFX > send of HXFX Loop 1 > input of Preamp Live > send of Preamp Live fx loop > return of loop 1 on HXFX > output of HXFX > return of fx loop of Preamp Live > XLR out of Preamp Live > FRFR or Power Amp and cab. That’s about the closest you’ll get. Maybe find a power amp or Powered PA that has additional send of the signal out by XLR also so you can send to FOH This allows you to place fx from the HXFX both before and after the Mooer Preamp Live’s preamps and before the Mooer Preamp Live’s power tube emulation and cab emulation. You can turn off power tube and cab simulation if you are using an actual power amp and cab or leave on if using a full range PA or dedicated FRFR
@vondragonnoggin3 жыл бұрын
@@adityabali1939 My setup changed quite a bit as I’m running HXFX in 4CM with real amps and have a bunch of additional tube and JFET preamps as well as the Mooer Preamp Live in fx loop 2 of the HXFX. I control Preamp Live Channel changes with midi from the HXFX and set in the HXFX presets I make. A total of 17 preamps I can choose from or use the amp’s preamp as well (running it into one of the following at different times - Marshal Lead 100 Mosfet, Bogner Atma, Rivera Venus Recording, or AMT Stonehead SH-50-4). Plus I have an EHX Tri-Parallel Mixer in loop 2 of HXFX to switch (or blend preamps) between all the different analog preamps plus Preamp Live. Chain is complicates so I won’t post it but I did post how you can setup your chain to use XLR at the end of the chain.

Hey Mooer, I'm on the edge of purchasing a Mooer PreAmp Live to replace my whole live rig. Since I'm a touring musician, could you maybe make a demo of it going straight into a PA (basically from the DI-out only) since that is what I would do, in order to assess sound quality. Thank you and congrats to an amazing product!

Did you find an answer by chance? I have precisely the same question. I want to use only the Mooer Live with 2 pedals before that and then straight into the mixer. I want to ditch the AMP for the small live gigs that we constantly play.

@@6Gianco9 not an answer per say, but I started using in ear monitors for referencing, now I use my macbook with a Line 6 FBV express MKII midi foot controller with a USB audio interface. I recently bought one of these, and find myself using it more than my Line 6 Helix! I run it into a Tech 21 Power Engine 60, and the sounds are just awesome. In contrast, I run the Helix into a Line 6 Power Cab. Don't mistake me, the Helix produces incredible sounds (especially with the different speaker simulations built into the Power Cab), but it cost me 4 times as much, is much fussier to program (though with more features, options and versatility), and way harder to haul around. I can't recommend this thing highly enough.

In this case is necessary to have it a cab sim on this headphones out... XLR send out directly to FOH and OUT (jack) send to backline (power amp + guitar cab) . I use 2x12 16ohm cab with Legends v128 and 1218 which are very nice and deep sounding speakers but without Radar's EQ and power amp tubes simulation all sound pretty weak. Of course Radar's cab sim is switched off. Could be great if future Preamp Live frimware will provide EQ settings as well.
