It’s the Moog Muse. I had issues clocking the Moog Muse with my Akai MPC X. It would start… but the muse would freeze or the notes would hang. I sent the Muse back to Sweetwater last week. The Muse is full of bugs at the moment.

It’s the Muse. I returned mine. It’s really a shame as I love the sound - but the instability in tuning, the midi/clock issues, and the totally messed up keyboard velocity issues were completely unacceptable. And the bubbling vinyl Moog logo many have had issues with, well… that is just not cool. I hope they get it all squared away. If so, I’d re-purchase.

Your excellent videos were the main reason I wanted to buy a Muse but I've heard that a number of users are experiencing a variety of bugs. Hopefully future software updates will iron these out but it's made me pause on purchasing it.

Right, should be a software/firmware update side fix. If it were consistently defective HARDWARE, Moog would have a much bigger issue on their hands :P (e.g.- RECALLS) Still, it makes you wonder: just what WAS Moog's Q.A. process prior to release? Especially if this many persons detected the same bugs, this consistently, this swiftly. ? ! ? ! ? ! ? ! ? ? ? ? ? like, whaaaaaat? :P

Have you checked the PPQN setttings on the Drumbrute? You can set them in the Arturia MIDI Control center. The default is 1/1 clocking (I don't remember exactly) which could be too slow for the Muse to pick up. Change it to other values and give a try. There is korg vocla style clocking as well.

Hello, Test clock source auto (auto source analog). It’s ok sync witk a Roland Tr8 s ("trigger out" for Roland) and of course "clock in" for Muse.
@GetsemaniMusicКүн бұрын
Thanks. Auto does the same thing. Analog is what it should switch to when it sees something plugged into the Clock In jack, so I was eliminating one variable by switching to Analog.

(I don't have a Muse, just experience with hardware and software) This seems like two separate problems. First, the Muse has different voltage expectations than what is "described" in the manual. Second, the Muse firmware seems to be triggering an internal consistent beat according to what it detects on the "clock in" jack, and it continues with that beat until it is stopped. Since the Grandmother can produce a usable clock for the Muse, you might try patching the your clock source to the Grandmother, and then the Grandmother to the Muse, so the Grandmother will condition the clock signal. Yes, bugs are common with newly released synths. My *logue Korgs had a few embarrassments until various updates rolled out.

I can't comment on the CV clock because I don't that but the midi clock works fine for me after the new update. Before the update I was getting hung notes and freezes. The bass patch called Hunk Bass behaves the same as yours. I have another bass patch called Super Bass that does this as well. Can't remember if that patch came from Moog or somewhere else. I have deleted all the patches I do not like and have replaced them with more usable ones.

Similar to other comments. MIDI clock out work fine from my DAW. I'm not sure about the analog clock out like you are using. I don't have that set up in my studio.

No experience with CV here but midi sequencing works fine with Elektron gear and yes it’s a bad preset when you tweak it a bit it gets better but I’ll replace it with a more useful one. Otherwise it’s my first big synth and I get to love it more and more 🤟😎

When velocity is activated under the VCA Envelope section you will get missed notes depending on the key-on velocity. This can be VERY unpredictable. I believe you need to pick another less sensitive curve for this feature to be useable.

This would drive me crazy. Have you tried the sequencer (vs arp) and does it behave the same way? Also, is midi an option? But for real this setup should work.

@@jon_gee yes, sequencer also does not see anything via Clock In from the Drumbrute or Keystep Pro. MIDI is an option but does not really fit my workflow.

cant help[ with the clock as I only use Midi and it works fine with that. With the notes issues - check the env more pages and make sure multitrig is on. Its off on itit and off on a lot of factory sounds - and that can make it miss notes or play incorrect velocity. If there still issues then its to do with the acknowledged velocity issue. Moog have said its digital in nature, known about and is Firmware fixable. Best guess on forums is its the keybed scan rate thats not fast enough.

Thanks. I’ll check it out. Someone else mentioned that the Hunk Bass patch does the same for them so that brings some relief. 😊

Tried all combinations of VCA and VCF multi-trigs. No difference, so anxiously waiting for the next firmware update. (It's been over a week, what are they doing over there?!) 😀 Actually, if the design team is still in Asheville, it may be awhile before we see anything... they have their hands full right now. 😓

It works for me. I have a signal coming out of Mac mini USB to the Muse. From there to Clock out on the Muse into DFAM. Works fine. Did you set clock start/stop in the cv menu? Also the divisor in that menu matters.
@JustMee-k8qКүн бұрын
The Arp menu is the wrong place to look. Look in the CV menu. First line is source. I set it to auto, it finds USB. Second line you set to Clock Start/Stop Third line is clock divisor. I set it to 1/8 being the DFAM has 8-steps.
@GetsemaniMusicКүн бұрын
@JustMee-k8q - I'm not using USB at all. Trying to get the Muse to respond directly from analog CV from things like the Drumbrute and KeyStep Pro. (Start, Stop, Temp Changes.) My DFAM, Mother 32, Subharmonicon, Grandmother and Matriarch all behave as expected. The Muse does not. Clock In on the Muse is handled from the Clock Menu. The CV Menu is for Clock Out from the Muse to other devices. All of those settings are set correctly.

What do you expect from a synth that comes from the former Moog company's chaos troop that was released? Probably the same as the One. Maybe the new company should have developed something of its own. Let's wait for the first real InMusic synth, maybe it will be better.
