Harald Bode deserves much more recognition as the father of the synthesizer. I've been into synths since 1973 and never knew about Bode's singular contribution until now. In 1960 he made a music production system that combined a modular synthesizer, sound processor, tape recorder and tape loop/echo unit in one (barely) portable package. Some of the experiments he made with it sound like Giorgio Moroder's 'I Feel Love' made 16 years later!
