Recorded at Mooji's flat in London
This interview with Mooji about and Neo-Advaita is a response to a recent podcast, 'Advaita and Neo-Advaita Pros and Cons'. • Mooji - A Spontaneous ... Mooji speaks more in depth about each of these paths, not dismissing either movement but rather pointing out the common mistakes which are made by both. Somewhere between the two movements -- the freshness of the Neo-Advaita, along with the focus, depth, and commitment of the Traditional Advaita is where knowledge and being can become one. The outcome of the inquiry which has been refreshed will be steadfastness in the Self, effortlessness, direct experience, and unshakeable and irrefutable knowledge. True understanding brings light and space, gets rid of superstition, doubt and ignorance. Everything is washed clean by perfect understanding and true knowledge. Ultimately it's a win-win situation; everyone has to come home.

Just sitting at home and listening to Mooji's satsangs, has taken me to that place of awareness, where I can see all of the sense formations as just rising and passing in awareness, and that I am not those formations. He is the real deal.

If you have a genuine urge for truth then life will arrange the right master for you. That is right. That's how I came to Jesus Christ, who is God in physical form and came to teach about priorities and the spiritual laws that govern life. Ego indeed needs to go, but true identity and relationship will always remain, because the one true God has set it up like this. We just need to renew our soul (mind, will and emotions) to line up with our Creator and Heavenly Father, and allow His Holy Spirit to lead and guide us into all truth, so we won't be spiritually misled down the wrong path and end up in the wrong destination.

I see Mooji as offering the very same "stuff" that Tony Parsons and his followers offer - Truth and liberation but with a slightly different "method" or approach so, I'd follow whatever works for you. To each their own. Tony and his ppl show me more than anyone I've met so far but I still love and enjoy Mooji's offerings.

I thought the same way but now I see cleary that Mooji is speaking from the standpoint of pure awareness. That has nothing to do with what Tony Parsons and other people like Karl Renz or UG Krishnamurti are talking about. Mooji is a teacher, he teaches you how to know yourself as awareness. You can only teach something if you have something to offer. There is nothing wrong with that but its not the "ultimate" truth. What Tony Parsons is describing is that the experience of being a person or being pure awareness is both illusory. What can happen is that the feeling of being someone can apparently fall away and what is left is just life itself, no state of bliss or state of "enlightenment". Just the recognition that there is nothing other than this moment here. And this moment is always whole and complete no matter how the circumstances are. And this "falling away" of the person can not be triggered by any practise. It happens randomly. And you have no advantage if it "happens" to you, because you won´t be there.

It's amazing how, at number 24, Mooji begins speaking of "cathartic reactions" or "deep rooted tendencies" that I'd call repressed/bottled up negative/painful FEELINGS that many folks stuffed down inside of themselves often due to a traumatic childhood. Since I worked on my buried grief, I instantly recognize what Mooji is speaking about even though I doubt that he understands what repressed/hidden pain is and why it is there inside of many of us who were raised by troubled parents or survived some kind of traumatic experiences, like WAR. It's astonishing to me that these "wizards" have no idea what repressed emotional pain is (PTSD) or how to deal with it. But then, not many psychotherapists understand repressed, bottled up childhood trauma or how to deal with it! It seems to SCARE most ppl!

Wear something pretty and twirl around when you meet him, bat your eyelashes and suggest that you have a pension. Insert and repeat. In and out, in and out. First take the dominatrix/submissive training being offered in the park. He is so smooth and would love to stand above you with subtle disdain. LOL oh my God. The world the ego made. What a comedy. Cheer up. There was a purpose to your so called existence. The butt of great comedy. "heaven is watching" and I am though incarnate....what a show (his i.q. is about eighty) LOL

I call the ego, the "persona". You're persona comes off as snide and crude. Why that is, I don't care. This might surprise you, though: A big part of yourself exists separate from the world your eyes and ears create, and separate from things like culture, identity and mental imagery. If you can manage to do away with the noise in your head and shut-up for 20mins, you might find that your snide and cynical attitude doesn't actually exist. It's just a play you are a part in. Automated processes and learned behaviors that you perform like an automaton. And in this case, for an audience. All Mooji and others like him are saying is that something exist that is more fundamental than the world created by your mind. Even physicists and neuroscientists know that the world we think we see around us is just a trick of the brain. What we see and interact with is just a simplified interface created by our minds, and sometimes we are taken hostage by it.

The term "neo-Advaita" is used in two very different ways. First, as here, it means the belief that "there is no one here, and nothing to do" (which is a useless philosophy). Second, it is used in contrast with Advaita-Vedanta to mean the new approach to Nonduality that does not connect with the ancient Vedic tradition of India. It is unfortunate that the same term is used in such different ways. Some people use the term "pseudo-Advaita" to refer to the a philosophy of reality that stops and declares self-realization or enlightenment too early, as soon as the person seems to disappear. From this stage of first awakening, which is certainly genuine, there is lots more to go on the apparent path before the path itself disappears and only reality remains. Mooji is not the only teacher who discusses this pseudo-Advaita philosophy. Rupert Spira, for example, refers often to this. The ultimate teaching is simpler that the teachings that precede it. Mooji talks about simplicity, effortlessness, and the fact that his teaching is not intellectual.

+David Spector Thank goodness someone is bringing it down to earth. Mooji has his place. Spira is pure poetry of course and I love to listen to him but I go to Mooji if I need a simpler approach.

+Bill Callahan My two favorite teachers. Spira is pure intellect (although, yes, he quotes poets and painters) and Mooji is pure heart (although, yes, he quotes Spira without knowing it). Both point exactly to who we really are: pure, unbounded awareness. Paying attention to such pointings, we quickly arrive home in that realization, which transforms life.

THE ANSWER The answer is that duality and unity exist at the same time. Existence is not simple in that way. A human mind finds it difficult to comprehend always seeking to choose on or the other, but both co-exist. There is a oneness that flows through everything and if you abide in this oneness "I Am" you will realise the self. However at the same time humans live in a plane with separation and duality, each person being a phoney ego. This is why if you think of a number another human cannot guess it, because there is de facto separation. So in conclusion, although there is a oneness that is accessible to all, there is also separation that exists at the same time. Likewise a human who is realised like Mooji does not have the power to make everyone realised because he is not God, he has merged with God but is not God. The human mind finds it difficult to comprehend these things, it always wants to choose either 1 or 2. But the truth is that 1 and 2 exist at the same time. And the most important thing is to find the oneness "I Am" within you and abide as "I Am" and it will indeed clean the house shattering all phoney ego. At the end what is created is something that is not ego but also not god. it is the soul and that is what you become.
