Honestly I feel like the biggest thing you need to be 'good' at PlanCo is patience. I have never been able to finish a realistic park because I just don't have the patience to complete tedious placement of scenery objects. I know I am able to and have made some relatively good looking stuff but can never find the motivation to do scenery for more than an hour at a time.

Amazed at how much custom detail can be put into the parks and even more amazed how well you implement them. Beautiful build and as a complete newbie it was very well described. Ngl this is such an important video for beginner players. scenery and queue design can be so intimidating but its important to remember you can be creative with ANYTHING! Encouraging new players to use roofs and doors for custom floors, barriers, fences etc. I wouldn't have though to explore like that if I was new. I still am a newbie but I've made so many custom building I am happy with in my 2 years of owning this game. I wanted to make a mega park, I had my inspiration but I lack the relevant experience when it comes to working with terrain and bringing my ideas to life.

It's a real shame that this game is so unnecessarily fiddly. Easy doesn't have to be simple, which is mantra the devs should be locked in a room and forced to chant ad nuasuem. Every time I'm inspired to fire the game up I find myself closing it back down pretty quickly, as a direct result of the crappy UI and design choices.

I'm a creative person with a wild imagination so I know I have the ability to make an amazing park. But a few things do and did hinder me in this game. 1) I watch other people create their parks and instead of being inspired by them, I'm trying to copy them and naturally it will never look like theirs and it not only discourages me, but hinders my own creativity. 2) I rush through building and this the kind of game that you can't rush through and lastly 3) when I first bought this game I went right into trying to make a mega park and that didn't go well. I never thought to use the shapes pieces to gauge space like you did with the queue cover.

the 'start small" thing is pretty much spot on. i usually give up during building of the entrance building. i fight the ui, fight the horrible placement of stuff, fight the enormous choice of stuff i can't put down.. it's all a bit too much so i end up with parks that look like how your first example look. i think i will just surrender to the fact i am a horrible diorama builder.
@MoominLittlesocks2 жыл бұрын
Haha! Nothing wrong with building dioramas. I love packing a huge amount of detail into a small space!
@hauntedshadowslegacy28262 жыл бұрын
Bit of advice for entrance buildings: They don't have to wrap around the entrance entirely; you can get away with having the building on one side (I tend to include the information kiosk inside) and a decorative fountain or sculpture on the other side. If you do choose to arch the building over the entrance, ensure the path underneath is well lit. The entrance should echo the core theme of the entire park. If accuracy with placement is a struggle for you, I recommend using the 'snap to position' option to align free-place objects with grid-place objects. From there, you can select the free-place objects (hold shift while clicking) and press 'x' to move the pieces with advanced move controls.

thank you for this detailed explanation, so far i have only found park management guides when i looked for starter tutorials while im mostly only interested in the creative/sandbox aspect of the game ive just started recently when PlanCo was on 90% sale and was quickly overwhelmed but i feel confident giving it another try :) one thing i struggle the most with is getting a proper entrance and the immediate area after that because i dont like how the road is just a straight line coming out of a mountain and if the entrance doesnt feel right I dont feel great going foward from there

I tried creating bigger parks with multiple themed areas, and although they are pretty decent in the beginning I always lose track of what I'm doing and then switch to different scenery losing the vibe of the one I was working on before. My adventure theme was fine as it was the first one, then the Roman theme started off pretty well but I got bored and started on western AND sci-fi in the next few weeks. Like you said, it's the task ahead that can get you demotivated to continue.

How did you square off your entrance to the ride? It was rounded then square in a couple of seconds. I thought I missed something so I watched it another 8 times but still missed it. I know about the grid but had no success at it. The rest of the que is great. Pleade keep doing what you do for us average folks.
