But the more I think about it, I can come up with scenarios that would at least make half sense. If an emerging civilization for example happened to be ejected from their solar system in some super rare event, somehow barely survived the coldness of having no sun on their now rogue planet and would then happen to arrive here by freak accident a million years later, they might indeed decide to take over the solar system as their new home system. The plot here doesn't make sense much to me. Here's my fictional story of how they could have done better. Humans on a different galaxy Andromeda evolved technologically for a billion of years. Instead of humans creating the AI , the AI can be of alien and unknown origin in the Milkey Way, and humans could have came from the Andromeda Galaxy with the scope of colonizing the Milkey Way. In order to do so, they needed those giant structures with human DNA on it for a long galactic travel. The rogue AI fights the Human colonizers in Milkey way, unknowingly of the danger of a rogue alien AI, and so they didn't have any EMP weapons that will damage the AI and not themselves. Because of this, we can say that humans on Earth, can use a powerful EMP to disable the AI and the moon too, taking both out. The moon will than remain in a elliptical orbit, devastating the planet still, and humans having to deal with that. With time humans will explore the moon and learn the tech. To me this is better because it doesn't go into the typical humans were so advanced that they've killed themselves and we have to learn from their mistake. Instead we can be treated as a third party in the middle of a war between an alien AI and human civilization.
